  1. 1. Transport in Oxides Studied by Gas Phase Analysis

    Author : Qian Dong; Gunnar Hultquist; W.J. Quadakkers; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas Phase Analysis; metal; oxide; platinum; vitreous silica; yttria stabilized zirconia; diatomic gas; oxidation; dissociation; permeation; uptake release.; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The transport in oxides is studied by the use of gas phase analysis (GPA). An experimental method to identify transported species of gases and their contribution to the overall transport of gases in oxides and an experimental method to evaluate the parameters diffusivity, concentration, permeability of gases in oxides and effective pore size in oxides are developed, respectively. 2. 2. Estimation of Thrust and Health Parameters for Jet Engines

    Author : Mattias Henriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thrust estimation; Kalman filtering; Gas turbine performance estimation; Reduced order observers; Gas path analysis;

    Abstract : An advanced turbofan engine control system would benefit from an accurate thrust and engine performance estimate. Unfortunately, there is to date no reliable in-flight thrust measurement sensors available. READ MORE

  3. 3. On model based aero engine diagnostics

    Author : Mikael Stenfelt; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; Asteris Apostolidis; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aero engines; model based diagnostics; gas path analysis; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Maintenance and diagnostics play a vital role in the aviation sector. This is especially true for the engines, being one of the most vital components. Lack of maintenance, or poor knowledge of the current health status of the engines, may lead to unforeseen disruptions and possibly catastrophic effects. READ MORE

  4. 4. Analysis of Temporal and Spatial Variations in Atmospheric Water Vapor Using Microwave Radiometry

    Author : Per O. J. Jarlemark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; time series analysis; microwave radiometry; atmospheric turbulence; global positioning system; space geodesy; GPS; meteorology; very long baseline interferometry; VLBI; climatology; radio wave propagation; atmospheric water vapor;

    Abstract : The amount of atmospheric water vapor is highly variable in both time and space. In this thesis some aspects of the variations in the atmospheric water vapor are treated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Analysis and Evaluation of Innovative Aero Engine Core Concepts

    Author : Lei Xu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; intercooled recuperated cycle; intercooler; intercooled cycle; multidisciplinary optimization; turbofan; innovative core; variable core cycle; thermal efficiency; aero engine;

    Abstract : Turbofan engines, which power the majority of the modern aircraft today, have achieved such a high maturity that small improvements of the engine performance requires a large investment. More innovative technologies, including those related to the engine cores, become increasinglyattractive due to the high fuel price in recent years as well as the strict regulations on emissions.
