  1. 1. Synchrotron radiation studies of gas phase molecules : from hydrogen to DNA sugars

    Author : Gemma Vall-llosera; Elisabeth Rachlew; Stacey Sorensen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KTH thesis; synchrotron radiation; gas phase; bio molecules; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylfysik;

    Abstract : This thesis summarises experimental results on the molecular spectroscopy of gas phase molecules excited by synchrotron radiation in the VUV and soft X-ray regions. We have used three different detection techniques, photon induced fluorescence spectroscopy, photoionisation mass spectroscopy and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy to study molecular deuterium, hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, methanol, pyridine, pyridazine, pyrimidine, pyrazine, s-triazine, and 2-deoxy-D-ribose, the last one also known as the DNA sugar. 2. 2. Transport in Oxides Studied by Gas Phase Analysis

    Author : Qian Dong; Gunnar Hultquist; W.J. Quadakkers; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas Phase Analysis; metal; oxide; platinum; vitreous silica; yttria stabilized zirconia; diatomic gas; oxidation; dissociation; permeation; uptake release.; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The transport in oxides is studied by the use of gas phase analysis (GPA). An experimental method to identify transported species of gases and their contribution to the overall transport of gases in oxides and an experimental method to evaluate the parameters diffusivity, concentration, permeability of gases in oxides and effective pore size in oxides are developed, respectively. 3. 3. Gas-Phase Protein Structure Under the Computational Microscope : Hydration, Titration, and Temperature

    Author : Erik Marklund; David van der Spoel; Albert Heck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular dynamics; gas phase; proteins; micelles; proton transfer; Grothuss mechanism; kinetics; Physics; Fysik; Physics with specialization in Biophysics; Fysik med inriktning mot biofysik;

    Abstract : Although the native environment of the vast majority of proteins is a complex aqueous solution, like the interior of a cell, many analysis methods for assessing chemical and physical properties of biomolecules require the sample to be aerosolized; that is, transferred to the gas-phase. An important example is electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry, which can provide a wide range of information about e. READ MORE

  5. 5. Operando Gas Imaging in Heterogeneous Catalysis

    Author : Jianfeng Zhou; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : planar laser-induced fluoresence; degenerate four wave mixing; gas phase; CO oxidation; model catalyst; hetergeneous catalysis; laser-diagnostiska tekniker; gasfasdetektering; modellkatalys; heterogen katalys;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the development and application of laser-based techniques, for gas phasecharacterization/gas imaging in heterogeneous catalysis. Two techniques are presented: planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) and degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM). READ MORE
