  1. 21. Laser-Based Techniques for Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Nikola Georgiev; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; LIF; Laser-based diagnostic techniques; PS; DFWM; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Georgiev;

    Abstract : Two-photon-induced Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing, DFWM, was applied for the first time to the detection of CO, and NH3 molecules. Measurements were performed in a cell, and in atmospheric-pressure flames. In the cell measurements, the signal dependence on the pressure and on the laser beam intensity was studied. READ MORE

  2. 22. Reduction of the N2O Emission from Fluidized Bed Combustion by Afterburning

    Author : Lennart Gustavsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; chemical modelling; fuel injection; nitrous oxide; fluidized bed combustion; fluidized beds; afterburning; homogeneous heterogeneous reactions; N2O reduction; fluidized bed boiler; N2O emissions;

    Abstract : A method for reducing N2O emissions from fluidized bed combustion is presented and investigated. In contrast to flame combustion, fluidized bed combustion generates significant amounts of nitrous oxide (N2O) which are emitted to the atmosphere. READ MORE

  3. 23. Interaction of sound waves with a swirl stabilized wood powder flame and their effects on flame characteristics

    Author : Burak Göktepe; Henrik Wiinnika; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Swirling flows have been widely used for many years in engineering applications such as; chemical and mechanical mixing devices, separation units, spray drying technologies, turbo machinery and combustion systems. In practical combustion applications, swirl motion has been adopted to the incoming reactant flows in order to enhance the mixing of fuel and oxidizer and to improve flame stabilization and establishment, especially in regions of relatively low velocities, by recirculating hot product gas to the incoming reactants. 4. 24. A Study on Desulfurization of Hot Metal Using Different Agents

    Author : David Lindström; Du Sichen; Nortier Patrice; Shin-ya Kitamura; KTH; []
    Keywords : desulfurization; hot metal; CaO; Mg; CaC2; ZnO; reaction mechanism; desulfurization abilities; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with desulfurization of hot metal using different agents. The aim of this study was to improve the understanding of commonly used desulfurization agents such as fluidized CaO, CaC2, commercial-CaO, Mg, and mixtures of commercial-CaO-Mg. The possibility to use ZnO for desulfurization of hot metal was also investigated. READ MORE

  5. 25. Mineral Reactions and Slag Formation During Reduction of Olivine Blast Furnace Pellets

    Author : Elin Ryösä; Hans Annersten; Kyösti Heinänen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olivine; iron ore pellets; blast furnace; reduction; alkali; coating; slag formation; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The present work focuses on mineral reactions and slag formation of LKAB olivine iron ore pellets (MPBO) subjected to reducing conditions in the LKAB experimental blast furnace (EBF). The emphasis is on olivine reactions with surrounding iron oxides. Many factors influence the olivine behaviour. READ MORE
