12. Change detection in metal oxide gas sensor signals for open sampling systems
Abstract : This thesis addresses the problem of detecting changes in the activity of a distant gas source from the response of an array of metal oxide (MOX) gas sensors deployed in an Open Sampling System (OSS). Changes can occur due to gas source activity such as a sudden alteration in concentration or due to exposure to a different compound. READ MORE

13. Improved Techniques for Sampling and Sample Introduction in Gas Chromatography
Abstract : Sampling and sample introduction are two key steps in quantitative gas chromatography. In this thesis, a development of a previously described sampling technique as well as a novel concept for sample introduction in gas chromatography are presented. The thesis is based on two papers. 14. New methods for determination of airborne pollutants : Focus on tetrabromobisphenol A, organophosphate triesters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS). 15. On the Determination of Reactive Compounds in Aerosols
Abstract : Many sources of airborne contaminants have always been present in various work environments. With the development of thermosetting plastic systems, the use of reactive chemical compounds was greatly increased and thus also the risk of exposure to reactive and potentially hazardous compounds.
