  1. 16. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry

    Author : Adina Gogan; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasmas; Gaser; Gases; fluid dynamics; aktuariematematik; programmering; operationsanalys; Statistik; actuarial mathematics; programming; operations research; Statistics; detailed kinetics; emissions; engine knock; autoignition; modeling; spark ignition engine; diesel engine; fluiddynamik; plasma; Technological sciences; Teknik; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; stochastic reactor model;

    Abstract : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 2. 17. Biogenic Halocarbons in Polar Sea Ice

    Author : Anna Granfors; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Volatile biogenic halocarbons; Sea ice; Antarctica; ice-air flux; gases;

    Abstract : Sea ice is to date a rather poorly investigated part of the cycling of volatile halogenated organic compounds, halocarbons. These compounds are natural sources of reactive iodine and bromine to the atmosphere, and are produced in the marine environment. READ MORE

  3. 18. Reactions in the Lower Part of the Blast Furnace with Focus on Silicon

    Author : Joel Gustavsson; Pär Jönsson; Leiv Kolbeinssen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blast furnace chemistry; ironmak ing; thermodynamics; silicon compounds; combustion; fuel injection; mass balance; slags; pig iron; gases; droplets;

    Abstract : The thermodynamic conditions for the behaviour of silicon in the lower part of the blast furnace have been the focus of the thesis. More specifically, the influences of temperature, carbon activity, total gas pressure and Fe reoxidation on silicon have been studied. READ MORE

  4. 19. Drop Break-up in High-Pressure Homogenisers

    Author : Fredrik Innings; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; plasma; fluiddynamik; Gaser; plasmas; fluid dynamics; POD; Gases; PIV; Eddy; Flow; Jet; Milk; Break-up; Emulsion; Drop; Homogeniser;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this project was to investigate the drop break-up process in milk homogenisers. This was done by measurements and calculations of the flow fields in the gap region and by visualisation of drops being broken up. To make visualisation and measurements possible, two scale models of a homogeniser gap were developed. READ MORE

  5. 20. Modeling and Performance of Gas Turbine Cycles with Various Means of Blade Cooling

    Author : Kristin Jordal; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid dynamics; Gases; termodynamik; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; blade cost; HAT cycle; humid air; model validation; blade cooling modeling; thermodynamic simulations; blade cooling; Gas turbine; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Mechanical engineering; hydraulics; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik;

    Abstract : A method for simulating the cooled gas turbine is demonstrated. Based on equations and other knowledge found in the literature, a first-law thermodynamic, non-dimensional model is established and implemented in the equation-solving, programmable software IPSEpro. READ MORE
