21. Flow and turbulence in the discharge stream of different agitators for stirred tanks
Abstract : In this thesis, the fluid dynamic properties of the conventional Rushton turbine and another impeller type, the Scaba Radial flow Gas dispersing Turbine (with six concave blades) are compared. For comparison, point-wise velocity measurements were made in the discharge of the two turbine types using Hot-Wire Anemometry in constant temperature mode (CTA) with a split film probe. READ MORE

22. Effects of Flow Structure on Particle Separation in Dissolved Air Flotation
Abstract : Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a separation process in water and wastewater treatment. The removal function is based on reducing the density of the particle by producing aggregates of the particles and added micro-bubbles of air, thus lifting the aggregates to the water surface, where they can be removed as sludge. 23. Numerical modeling of deforming bubble transport related to cavitating hydraulic turbines
Abstract : Cavitation is a problem in many hydroelectric power plants since it can cause adverse effects on performance and damage to nearby solid surfaces. The concerns of this thesis are the numerical aspects of flow simulations in cavitating hydraulic turbines which contain several difficulties: turbulent and complex flows, steady and moving parts of the geometry, bubble transport and cavitation development. 24. Computational Aeroacoustics Based on Large Eddy Simulation and Acoustic Analogies
Abstract : The thesis presents a numerical method developed by the author and its applications for computing the generated sound by an unsteady flow field and its propagation. The full equations of motion for compressible and unsteady flows describe both flow field and sound generation and propagation. READ MORE

25. An Experimental Study of Fluid Dynamics and Mixing in Bubbly Gas-Liquid Flow Systems
Abstract : In the present project, a new experimental method enabling Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) measurements in bubbly gas-liquid flows is presented. Due to reflection and refraction of the laser light, the bubbles will cause an uneven and unknown distribution of light intensity in the measurement plane. READ MORE
