16. Bio-SNG from Thermal Gasification - Process Synthesis, Integration and Performance
Abstract : Biomethane or synthetic natural gas (Bio-SNG) produced from gasified renewable woody biomass is a promising option for replacing fossil natural gas. The complete interchangeability with natural gas in all its conventional applications such as in the power generation, transportation and chemical industry sector is of particular interest. READ MORE

17. Computational studies of nickel catalysed reactions relevant for hydrocarbon gasification
Abstract : Sustainable energy sources are of great importance, and will become even more important in the future. Gasification of biomass is an important process for utilization of biomass, as a renewable energy carrier, to produce fuels and chemicals. READ MORE

19. Study of pyrolysis and gasification of biomass from the self-organization perspective
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the analysis of kinetics of i) low-temperature pyrolysis of gaseous hydrocarbons, ii) high-temperature steam gasification of char of wood pellets (>700oC), iii) high temperature pyrolysis of straw pellets in an atmosphere of argon and steam, and iv) high temperature pyrolysis of slices of transversally cut wooden sticks. The results of the kinetic measurements in the high-temperature cases are approximated using a least-square based optimization software, which was specially developed to analyse kinetics prone for deviation from the Arrhenius law. 20. Aspects of Ash Transformations in Pressurised Entrained-Flow Gasification of Woody Biomass : Pilot-scale studies
Abstract : Pressurised entrained-flow gasification (PEFG) of woody biomass has the potential to produce high purity syngas for the production of vital chemicals, e.g., biofuels. However, ash-related issues such as reactor blockages and refractory corrosion need to be addressed before this potential can be realised from a technical perspective. READ MORE
