1. Noise sensitivity and FK-type representations for Gaussian and stable processes
Abstract : This thesis contains four papers on probability theory. Paper A concerns the question of whether the exclusion sensitivity and exclusion stability of a sequence of Boolean functions are monotone with respect to adding edges to the underlying sequence of graphs. READ MORE

2. Microwave Gaussian quantum metrology
Abstract : With increasingly sensitive measurements being made possible by technological development, there arises situations where the effects of quantum mechanics have to be taken into account. While quantum mechanics tells us that there are fundamental limits of measurement sensitivity, it also gives us the tools to constructively push the same limits for experimental systems. READ MORE

3. On Performance of Digital Radio Receiver in Non-Gaussian Interference
Abstract : Interference from electrical equipment can degrade a co-located digital radio receiver severely. To avoid this performance degradation it is necessary to have estimation methods to predict the influence from an interference environment on a radio receiver in advance. READ MORE

4. Applications of Gaussian Noise Stability in Inapproximability and Social Choice Theory
Abstract : Gaussian isoperimetric results have recently played an important role in proving fundamental results in hardness of approximation in computer science and in the study of voting schemes in social choice theory. In this thesis we prove a generalization of a Gaussian isoperimetric result by Borell and show that it implies that the majority function is optimal in Condorcet voting in the sense that it maximizes the probability that there is a single candidate which the society prefers over all other candidates. 5. Linear Quadratic Gaussian Controllers for Feedforward Active Noise Control : Pushing Performance and Moving Towards Adaptive Control
Abstract : Active noise control is a research area focused on using destructive interference of sound fields to attenuate undesired noise. Methods for active noise control are best suited for low frequency noise, as the complexity of the problem grows rapidly with frequency. READ MORE
