1. Phase Separation and Gelation of Biopolymers in Confined Geometries
Abstract : Many biopolymer mixtures exhibit segregative phase separation that generates regions enriched in one polymer and depleted in the other. Today, much is known of how phase separating biopolymer systems behaves in bulk phase, and the final morphology can be controlled and tailored with high precision. READ MORE

2. Structure Evolution during Phase Separation and Gelation of Biopolymer Mixtures
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the kinetics of phase separation and gelation in aqueous mixtures of gelatin and maltodextrin. The structure evolution of these mixtures at different length scales was recorded by confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The microstructure was quantified by image analysis. READ MORE

3. On the Electrolyte Induced Aggregation of Concentrated Silica Dispersions - An Experimental Investigation Using the Electrospray Technique
Abstract : Gels are weak, solid-like structures that arise when colloidal particles aggregate to form a network of particle clusters. A variety of colloidal systems that are important scientifically as well as in industrial applications are capable of gel formation, e.g. globular protein solutions, colloid-polymer mixtures, and metal oxides. 4. Colloidal fumed silica and soluble silicates — Interactions and microstructure
Abstract : Colloidal dispersions and gels are important material systems with applications in many industrial processes and consumer products. This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of colloidal interactions and the phase transition from a colloidal dispersion to an arrested structure in two systems based on silica. READ MORE

5. Development of new nanomaterials syntheses for mesostructured TiO2 and SiO2
Abstract : Mesostructured materials is a class of materials within the concept nanomaterials andcharacterized by structural features on the length scale 2-50 nm. This group of materials isinteresting for several applications such as, membrane and separation technology, heterogeneouscatalysis, controlled release, adsorption of pollutants, solar energy conversion, electrode materialsetc. READ MORE
