  1. 1. Modelling and Experimental Verification of Direct Drive Wave Energy Conversion : Buoy-Generator Dynamics

    Author : Mikael Eriksson; Mats Leijon; Jan Isberg; Arne Wolfbrandt; Kim Nielsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Engineering physics; Wave energy; Potential wave theory; Linear generator; Simulations; Experiments; Point absorber; FEM; Equivalent circuit theory; Teknisk fysik; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on development of models and modelling of a wave energy converter in operation. Through the thesis linear potential wave theory has been used to describe the wave-buoy interaction. The differences lie in the generator models, in the simplest model the generator is a mechanical damper characterized by a damping factor. READ MORE

  2. 2. Wave Energy Conversion : Linear Synchronous Permanent Magnet Generator

    Author : Oskar Danielsson; Mats Leijon; Göran Engdahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Engineering physics; Finite element method; linear synchronous generator; longitudinal end effect; permanent magnet; point absorber; offshore testing; wave power; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis studies the electric aspects of a linear synchronous permanent magnet generator. The generator is designed for use in a wave energy converter, which determines the fundamental requirements of the generator. The electromagnetic properties of the generator are investigated with a finite element based simulation tool. READ MORE

  3. 3. A functional parser generator

    Author : Göran O. Uddeborg; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This article describes FPG, a functional parser generator. It is functional both in the sense that it is written in, and in the sense that it generates code for, a functional language, in this case LML. READ MORE

  4. 4. Vortex generator modeling and its application to optimal control of airflow in inlet

    Author : Adam Jirásek; Arthur Rizzi; John W Slater; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vortex generator; vortex generator model; flow control; design and optimization; DOE; CFD; UAV; inlet; S-duct; pressure distortion; pressure recovery; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : This dissertation deals with the development of the vortex generator model and its use for the optimization study of vortex generator flow control in high-offset-ed inlets. In the first part, the overview of use of vortex generators and their mechanism is outlined. READ MORE

  5. 5. A Generator Perspective on Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

    Author : Fredrik Bülow; Hans Bernhoff; Jens Sørensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VAWT; PM generator; Wind power; Stator core loss;

    Abstract : The wind energy conversion system considered in this thesis is based on a vertical axis wind turbine with a cable wound direct drive PM generator. Diode rectifiers are used to connect several such units to a single DC-bus and a single inverter controls the power flow from the DC-bus to a utility grid. READ MORE
