  1. 1. Guardians of the genome : Connecting chromatin structure and genome integrity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Stefanie Lena Bauer; Stefan U. Åström; Brian Luke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Branched DNA structures arise during recombination and during other DNA repair processes such as repair of stalled replication forks. One branched structure, the Holliday Junction (HJ), is a four-way junction that can connect sister chromatids or homologous chromosomes. We show a physical interaction between the HJ-cleaving enzyme Yen1 and Uls1. READ MORE

  2. 2. RNA-binding proteins in transcription and genome integrity

    Author : Chiara Pederiva; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : For decades, it was believed that RNA was merely an intermediate step between DNA and protein effectors. It is now appreciated that RNA is an extremely versatile molecule that affects almost every aspect inside a cell. READ MORE

  3. 3. The exosome and the maintenance of genome integrity

    Author : Judit Domingo Prim; Neus Visa; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The RNA exosome acts on different RNA substrates and plays important roles in RNA metabolism. The fact that short non-coding RNAs are involved in the DNA damage response led us to investigate whether the exosome plays a role in DNA repair. READ MORE

  4. 4. The RNA exosome and the maintenance of genome integrity

    Author : Judit Domingo Prim; Neus Visa; Andrés Aguilera; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EXOSC10; RRP6; DNA damage; diRNA; DDRNA; DNA end resection; homologous recombination; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : The RNA exosome is a ribonucleolytic complex that acts on different RNA substrates and plays important roles in RNA metabolism. In recent years, the synthesis and the processing of RNA have been directly linked to the integrity of the genome. READ MORE

  5. 5. Maintenance of genome integrity via activities of the cohesin network

    Author : Emma Lindgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Correct segregation of sister chromatids is an important mechanism for keeping the genome intact. The cohesin complex holds the sister chromatids together from the time of their formation during replication, until separation at anaphase and is thereby mediating cohesion between the sister chromatids, essential for correct chromatid segregation.
