  1. 41. Jurassic and Early Cretaceous selachians - focus on southern Scandinavia

    Author : Jan Rees; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geology; Paleontologi; Palaeontology; Lissodus; palaeoecology; England; Denmark; Sweden; sharks; selachians; Jurassic; Early Cretaceous; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Abstract : The Jurassic and Early Cretaceous selachian faunas of Scania (Skåne), southern Sweden and the island of Bornholm (Denmark) have been investigated. Three Early Jurassic shark tooth assemblages have been recorded and investigated, one from Hettangian strata and the other two from Pliensbachian sediments. READ MORE

  2. 42. Late Weichselian and early Holocene changes of vegetation, climate and sea level on the Skagi peninsula, northern Iceland

    Author : Mats Rundgren; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; asthenosphere viscosity; glacial loading unloading; marine polar front migrations; sea-level change; climate change; vegetation change; Early Holocene; Late Weichselian; Iceland; Lake sediments; Skagi peninsula; Geology; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Abstract : Sediment sequences from five lakes on the Skagi peninsula, northern Iceland, were subjected to mineral magnetic analysis, carbon analysis, pollen analysis, plant macrofossil analysis, diatom analysis, radiocarbon dating and tephra analysis in order to make detailed reconstructions of vegetation, climate and sea level during the Late Weichselian and Early Holocene. The main purpose was to investigate if the dramatic deglacial climatic shifts recorded in proxy records from the North Atlantic region, such as ice cores, marine sediments and lake sediments, also are registered in Skagi lake sediments, which would be expected considering Iceland´s position in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, within the range of the Late Weichselian–Early Holocene migrations of the marine polar front. 3. 43. Reef biostromes and related facies from the Middle Silurian of Gotland, Sweden

    Author : Olof Sandström; Geologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; physical geography; Geology; stromatoporoids; facies analysis; palaeobiology; Reefs; biostromes; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Abstract : Reef biostromes and related facies from the upper part of Wenlock and from Ludlow were investigated in order to account for their formation, their palaeoecology and biology. In the Hemse Group of Ludlow age, all studied biostromes comprise a low diversity fauna where one or few species dominates. READ MORE

  4. 44. Dead-Ice Under Different Climate Conditions: Processes, Landforms, Sediments and Melt Rates in Iceland and Svalbard

    Author : Anders Schomacker; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; klimatologi; glacier; dead-ice; surge; ice-cored; Little Ice Age; fysisk geografi; Geologi; Geology; Svalbard; Iceland; Sedimentology; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Sedimentologi; Physical geography; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; climatology;

    Abstract : Modern dead-ice environments in the glacier forefields of Brúarjökull, Iceland and Holmströmbreen, Svalbard were investigated with focus on landform and sediment genesis, as well as quantification of melting. Field monitoring and studies of multi-temporal aerial photographs, satellite imagery, and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) provided data for the melting quantification. READ MORE

  5. 45. Constraining the Southern Part of the Greenland Ice Sheet since the Last Glacial Maximum from Relative Sea-Level Changes, Cosmogenic Dates and Glacial-Isostatic Adjustment Models

    Abstract : New results are presented from the investigation of relative sea-level changes in the Nanortalik and Qaqortoq-Narsarsuaq areas in SW Greenland from c. 11 000 cal. years BP to the present. READ MORE
