  1. 1. Ghosts and machines : regularized variational methods for interactive simulations of multibodies with dry frictional contacts

    Author : Claude Lacoursière; Bo Kåggström; Ander Klarbring; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Discrete mechanics; Variational method; Contact problems; Impacts; Least action principle; Saddle point problems; Lagrange Multipliers; Constrained systems; Multibody Systems; Numerical regularization; Constraint realization; Constraint stabilization; Dry friction; Differential Algebraic Equations; Nonsmooth problems; Linear Complementarity; Quaternion algebra; Numerical linear algebra; Physics modeling; Interactive simulation; Numerical stability; Rigid body dynamics; Dissipative systems; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik;

    Abstract : A time-discrete formulation of the variational principle of mechanics is used to provide a consistent theoretical framework for the construction and analysis of low order integration methods. These are applied to mechanical systems subject to mixed constraints and dry frictional contacts and impacts---machines. READ MORE

    Abstract : This thesis explores French philosopher Jacques Derrida’s ’hauntology’ through the lens of digital monsters and feminist theory.Hauntology – a pun on ‘ontology’ and ‘haunting’ – offers an ethics based on responsibility towards that which cannot be said to fully exist, yet has an effect on our everyday lives nonetheless. 3. 3. Neglected ghosts of contested nurseries : The role of interpersonal trauma and psychosocial adversity for caregiving among parents with intellectual disability

    Author : Mårten Hammarlund; Pehr Granqvist; Tommie Forslund; David McConnell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Intellectual disability; Interpersonal trauma; Psychosocial Risk; Parenting; Child development; Social cognition; Parental mentalizing; Attachment; Intellektuell funktionsnedsättning; Interpersonellt trauma; Psykosocial risk; Föräldraskap; Barns utveckling; Social kognition; Föräldramentalisering; Anknytning; psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : Research on the general parent population has established that parental exposure to interpersonal trauma and psychosocial stressors may negatively influence caregiving and children’s development. Research also suggests that parents with intellectual disability (ID) are disproportionally exposed to interpersonal trauma and psychosocial stressors, and that such exposure may contribute to the elevated risk for caregiving and child developmental problems in this population. 4. 4. Rethinking Speculative Execution from a Security Perspective

    Author : Christos Sakalis; Magnus Själander; Alexandra Jimborean; Stefanos Kaxiras; Josep Torrellas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; computer architecture; speculative execution; processor; security; out-of-order execution; side-channel; microarchitectural replay; microarchitecture; Delay-on-Miss; Ghosts; Delay-on-Squash; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Speculative out-of-order execution is one of the fundamental building blocks of modern, high-performance processors. To maximize the utilization of the system's resources, hardware and software security checks in the speculative domain can be temporarily ignored, without affecting the correctness of the application, as long as no architectural changes are made before transitioning to the non-speculative domain. 5. 5. Ghosts of the Past or Facilitators of the Future? : Firm-System Interactions in the Transition to Electrified Goods Transportation

    Author : Viktor Werner; Thomas Magnusson; Ksenia Onufrey; Solmaz Filiz Karabag; Peter Wells; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : If you visit Linköping, you have good chances to see electrified cars, or you may even take a ride on an electric city bus. However, you will have some difficulty spotting one of the very few electric trucks operating in the city. READ MORE
