  1. 1. Unravelling the structure and dynamics of lipid nanoparticles for biomolecule delivery

    Author : Jennifer Gilbert; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lipid nanoparticles; neutron scattering; SAXS; protein encapsulation; nucleic acid delivery; lipid self-assembly;

    Abstract : Encapsulation in self-assembled lipid structures has been shown to increase the stability of large biomolecules, including proteins and nucleic acids (NAs), which has many potential applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries. In order to fully optimise the encapsulation system for a certain application, however, it is important to understand the effect of the encapsulated biomolecule on the lipid structure and vice versa. 2. 2. Characterization of evolutionary conserved subdomains in the embryonic zebrafish forebrain based on gene expression patterns

    Author : Gilbert Lauter; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Intersecting transverse and longitudinal transcription factor expression domains divide the embryonic brain into a grid of histogenetic fields with distinct positional identities. The topology of histogenetic fields has been highly conserved during vertebrate evolution and can therefore be used to reveal homologous relations of brain areas between vertebrates. READ MORE

  3. 3. Probing the Effects of Conformation on the Photophysics of Conjugated Porphyrin Oligomers

    Author : Melina Gilbert Gatty; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electron transfer; conformational analysis; conjugated porphyrin oligomers;

    Abstract : Controlling the conformational heterogeneity of molecular systems is fundamental to envisage future applications of these systems, such as in solar cells or molecular devices to name a few. The work presented in this Thesis investigates the effects of conformational flexibility on the photophysical properties of a series of conjugated porphyrin oligomers Pn (n = 1-4, 6, 8). READ MORE

  4. 4. Asymptotics and dynamics in first-passage and continuum percolation

    Author : Daniel Ahlberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; first-passage percolation; noise sensitivity; continuum percolation; Gilbert model; limit theorems; shape theorem; stopped random walks; large deviations; dynamical percolation; continuum percolation;

    Abstract : This thesis combines the study of asymptotic properties of percolation processes with various dynamical concepts. First-passage percolation is a model for the spatial propagation of a fluid on a discrete structure; the Shape Theorem describes its almost sure convergence towards an asymptotic shape, when considered on the square (or cubic) lattice. 5. 5. Ferromagnetic Resonance as a Probe of Magnetization Dynamics : A Study of FeCo Thin Films and Trilayers

    Author : Yajun Wei; Peter Svedlindh; Sujeet Chaudhary; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ferromagnetic resonance FMR ; Gilbert damping; magnetic coupling; FeCo;

    Abstract : The high frequency dynamic magnetic responses of FeCo thin films and structures have been investigated mainly using ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) technique.The FMR resonance condition and linewidth are first derived from the dynamic Landau- Lifshitz-Gilbert equation, followed by a study of the conversion between FMR field and frequency linewidths.
