  1. 1. Persistent organic pollutants in the atmosphere - spatial and temporal variations

    University dissertation from Department of Ecology, Lund University

    Author : Cecilia Backe; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tropical and temperate regions; global transport; temperature; latitudinal fractionation; fugacity; soil organic matter; soil-air exchange; washout ratio; rain; precipitation; atmosphere; spatial and temporal variations; DDT; PCB; persistent organic pollutants; polychlorinated biphenyls; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Ecology; Ekologi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : In these thesis I have studied the spatial and temporal variations of PCBs in the atmosphere and in precipitation in southern Sweden. Further, soil-air exchange processes of PCBs were investigated. Finally, the long-range transport of PCBs and DDT was studied in the Baltic Sea region and in a tropical vs. a temporal region. 2. 2. Polybrominated diphenylethers in the environment - Local and long range transport

    University dissertation from Arnout ter Schure, Dept. of Ecology, Chemical Ecology and Ecotoxicology, Sölvegatan 37, 22362, Lund, Sweden

    Author : Arnout ter Schure; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Substance Flow Analysis; Spatial Variation; Sources; PCB; PBDE; Latitude; Global Fractionation; Frogs; Deposition; Atmosphere; Baltic Sea; Ekologi; Temperature; Washout ratio; Ecology;

    Abstract : I have studied the sources, long range transport, and rates of flow of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), from the technosphere to the Baltic ecosystems. PBDEs are mainly used in polymers, which are applied in electrical equipment to prevent overheating or flashover and are produced in large quantities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fractionation of the stable silicon isotopes analytical method developments and selected applications in geochemistry

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Emma Engström; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : During the last few decades, variations in the 'natural' isotopic abundances of stable elements (termed 'fractionation') have received considerable interest from the scientific community. Though analytical methods and techniques for the measurement of isotopic abundances with adequate figures of merit have been available for light elements (e.g. READ MORE

  4. 4. Building a map of the breast cancer proteome - Strategies to increase coverage

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Paolo Cifani; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Quantitative proteomics; Mass-Spectrometry; Cancer; DNA repair; Hypoxia; PTMs; Sample fractionation; Database;

    Abstract : Amongst the various –omics sciences, proteomics has the highest potential for functional characterization and consequently can contribute significantly to the field of cancer research. In particular, the focus of this thesis is on breast cancer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fractionation of the stable silicon isotopes studied using MC-ICP-MS analytical method developments and applications in geochemistry

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Emma Engström; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : In spite of the high Si abundance in natural systems, expected significant mass-dependent fractionations, and the importance of the element in many areas of the Earth sciences (focusing on e.g. READ MORE
