  1. 1. Macromolecules at Interfaces

    Author : Helén Larsericsdotter; Sven Oscarsson; Jos Buijs; Willem Norde; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Chemistry; Protein; Adsorption; Immobilization; Surface; Surface Plasmon Resonance; SPR; Mass Spectrometry; MS; Differential Scanning Calorimetry; DSC; FT ICR; Lysozyme; Bovine Serum Albumin; BSA; Myoglobin; Globular; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the structure and stability of globular proteins adsorbed onto nanometer-sized hydrophilic silica particles were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), hydrogen/deuterium exchange (HDX), and mass spectrometry (MS). The adsorption process itself was characterized with fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy and surface plasmon resonance (SPR). READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring the Chemical Evolution of Globular Clusters and their Stars : Observational Constraints on Atomic Diffusion and Cluster Pollution in NGC 6752 and M4

    Author : Pieter Gruyters; Andreas Korn; Piercarlo Bonifacio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stars: abundances – stars: atmospheres – stars: fundamental parameters – globular clusters: individual: NGC 6752 and M4 – techniques: spectroscopic; Astronomy with specialization in Astrophysics; Astronomi med intiktning mot astrofysik;

    Abstract : Through the cosmic matter cycle, the chemical evolution of the Milky Way is imprinted in the elemental abundance patterns of late-type stars (spectral types F to K). Due to their long lifetimes ( 1 Hubble time), these stars are of particular importance when it comes to studying the build-up of elements during the early times of our Galaxy. READ MORE

  3. 3. NMR structural studies of flexible polypeptides and globular proteins

  4. 4. On the behaviour of globular proteins at the solid/liquid interface

    Author : Johan C. Fröberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Proteins are abundant and in most contexts where they arepresent interfaces of different kinds are found. Interfacesinfluence protein function, and indeed many proteins areincapable of performing their proper functionwithoutthe presence of an interface. READ MORE

  5. 5. The nature of stars with a common origin: clues from metallicity, elemental abundances, and kinematics

    Author : Cheng Liu; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stars: abundances; Galaxy: evolution; Galaxy: solar neighbourhood; Galaxy: bulge; Galaxy: globular clusters;

    Abstract : Most of field stars originate from dissolved star clusters. If the gas cloud is well mixed the stars in the cluster are expected to be chemically homogenous. READ MORE
