21. Studies of the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy and Henoch-Schönlein purpura, with special reference to Streptococcus pyogenes infections and complement
Abstract : IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common form of primary glomerulonephritis and Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) the most common form of vasculitis in childhood. HSP may affect kidneys, a complication termed Henoch-Schönlein nephropathy (HSN). Renal pathology in HSN resembles that seen in IgAN. The pathogenesis of IgAN and HSP is so far unclear. READ MORE

22. TRIM21/ Ro52 in B cell pathology
Abstract : Primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) is a systemic autoimmune disease affecting 0.2% of the population. Several B cell aberrances have been linked to pSS, such as autoantibody production, hypergammaglobulinemia and B cell associated genetic polymorphisms. In addition, pSS patients display a 16 fold increased risk to develop B cell lymphomas. READ MORE

23. Systemic lupus erythematosus : biomarkers and biologics
Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease, predominantly affecting women of childbearing age. The pathogenesis of SLE is multifactorial, and the clinical phenotype and course vary considerably within the SLE population. Multiple organs can be involved, lupus nephritis (LN) being one of the most severe manifestations. READ MORE

24. Peptide and non-peptide biomarkers of mortality in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease
Abstract : Over the last decade, multiple studies have attempted to identify better risk prediction tools specific to the chronic kidney disease (CKD) population. In many cases, these studies have evaluated the use of various peptide biomarkers as prediction tools. READ MORE

25. Renal function and renal histopathology in assessment of course and prognosis in Henoch Schönlein nephritis and IgA nephropathy
Abstract : Background: Henoch Schönlein Nephritis (HSN) is a common childhood vasculitis that generally has a self-limiting course but the long-term outcome varies with the clinical picture at onset. Morbidity is high among the most severe cases, and therefore there is a need for intervention. READ MORE
