  1. 1. Mechanism of Metabolite transfer between Enzymes in Glycolysis and Connected Pathways

    Author : Wilma Martinez Arias; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Channelling; Free-diffusion; Glycolytic pathway; Dehydrogenases; Enzyme kinetics; Biochemistry; Metabolite transfer mechanism.; Biokemi; Metabolism;

    Abstract : The metabolite produced by one enzyme in a metabolic pathway can be transferred to the next enzyme in the pathway by free diffusion via solution or by channelling in an enzyme-enzyme complex without prior release of the metabolite to solution. While metabolite channelling is known to occur in systems where stable multienzyme complexes form, conflicting views have been expressed as to its existence in pathways involving "soluble" enzymes. 2. 2. Functional studies of the TDH and GPD gene-products in the glycolytic flux and glycerol metabolism of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Hadi Valadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Growth rate; GPD; Sacchromyces cerevisiae; Glyceol; NADH; Anaerobiosis; TDH; Redox; Glycolysis;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the physiology and control of the glycolysis and glycerol metabolism in the yeast Sacchromyces cerevisiae. The study is based on the relation ship between the first two reactions around the branch-point of the upper and lower part of glycolysis and the glycerol pathway. READ MORE

  3. 3. A kinetic study of metabolite transfer in coupled two-enzyme reactions

    Author : Henrik Pettersson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Free diffusion; Enzyme kinetics; Channelling; Dehydrogenase; Fusion protein; Biochemistry; Proximity effect; metabolism; Biokemi;

    Abstract : There are two fundamentally different ways by which a metabolite can be transferred between enzymes in metabolic pathways. If the two sequential enzymes cannot form a complex with each other, the metabolite must first be released from the producing enzyme to the reaction medium and then be transported to the consuming enzyme, via the reaction medium, by free diffusion. 4. 4. Food-Related Gram-Positive Bacteria: Enterotoxin A Expression in Staphylococcus aureus and a New Regulation Mechanism in Lactococcus lactis

    Author : Rong Cao; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lactococcus lactis; multiple inhibition kinetics; dehydrogenase; ATP; ADP; food factors; biopreservatives; staphylococcal food poisoning; SEA; prophage induction; enterotoxin A; Staphylococcus aureus;

    Abstract : Staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA) is the most common enterotoxin found in outbreaks of staphylococcal food poisoning (SFP). Based on the amount of SEA produced, S. aureus strains were divided into two main groups, high- and low-SEA-producing strains. READ MORE
