  1. 1. The Weighted Space Odyssey

    Author : Martin Křepela; Sorina Barza; Gord Sinnamon; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; integral operators; supremal operators; weights; weighted function spaces; Lorentz spaces; Lebesgue spaces; convolution; Hardy inequality; multilinear operators; nonincreasing rearrangement; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : The common topic of this thesis is boundedness of integral and supremal operators between weighted function spaces.The first type of results are characterizations of boundedness of a convolution-type operator between general weighted Lorentz spaces. READ MORE

  2. 2. Clinical and oncopreventive outcomes of antireflux surgery

    Author : John Maret-Ouda; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), with heartburn and acid regurgitation as main symptoms, is a common disease with increasing prevalence. GORD is associated with oesophageal adenocarcinoma, a cancer with demanding treatment and yet poor prognosis. READ MORE

  3. 3. Laparoscopic or Open Antireflux Surgery - A Comparative Study with Special Reference to the Patient´s Perspective

    Author : Gunilla Nilsson; Folke Johnsson; Bengt Hallerbäck; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Antireflux surgery; fundoplication; RCT; laparoscopy versus open surgery; subjective outcomes; objective outcomes; narratives; short-term follow-up; long-term follow-up; Surgery; Kirurgi; Health Informatics; Hälsoinformatik; Omvårdnad; Nursing; Gastro-enterology; Gastroenterologi; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; long-term follow-up; short-term follow-up; narratives; objective outcomes; subjective outcomes; laparoscopy versus open surgery; RCT; Antireflux surgery; fundoplication; Kirurgi; traumatologi; ortopedi;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to compare the effects of laparoscopic versus open antireflux surgery in a randomized clinical trial focusing the patients' subjective and objective outcome postoperatively, from a short-term and a long-term perspective. A further aim was to describe GORD patients' experiences of illness and surgical treatment and if possible to find striking characteristics relating to laparoscopic or open surgery. READ MORE

  4. 4. Bile in the oesophagus contributes to the development and complications of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease

    Author : Jacob Freedman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Gastro- oesophageal reflux disease; duodeno- gastro- oesophageal reflux; bile; oesophagitis; cholecystectomy; ulcer; oesophageal motility; bilitec; normal values;

    Abstract : Objective: To clarify the relationship between duodenogastro- oesophageal reflux (DGOR) and gastro- oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and its complications. Methods: As persons who have had their gallbladders removed have been shown to have an increased incidence of duodenogastric reflux, one would expect them to have an increased incidence of DGOR. 5. 5. Aspects on luminal nitric oxide in relation to oesophageal acid exposure and mucosal integrity

    Author : Mogens Bove; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : nitric oxide; nitric oxide synthase; acid; gastro-esophageal reflux disease; membrane potentials; saliva; nitrate; blood flow; ferret; histopathology;

    Abstract : Nitric oxide (NO) exerts important neuromuscular control of the oesophagus, but little is known about the sources and effects of the NO present in the distal oesophageal lumen. These questions were presently addressed in both human and animal experiments. READ MORE
