  1. 21. Modelling and strength grading of structural timber and glulam lamellae on the basis of optical scanning and dynamic excitation

    Author : Andreas Briggert; Anders Olsson; Jan Oscarsson; Mikael Perstorper; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fibre direction; finger joint; machine strength grading; knots; tracheid effect; Norway spruce; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Machine strength grading of sawn timber is a sawmill process in which density, modulus of elasticity (MOE) and bending or tensile strength are predicted such that the timber can be assigned to strength classes. The predictions of these properties are performed using one or several so-called indicating properties (IPs), which represent a board property, or combination of board properties, measured non-destructively. 2. 22. Teachers’ Assessment and grading Practices in upper secondary Science Classrooms in Sweden : The Teachers’ and Students’ Perspectives

    Author : Maria Gomez; Pedagogik; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Assessment and Grading practices; Science Classrooms; Learning Sciences; Learning; Natural Sciences; Upper-Secondary School;

    Abstract : This dissertation acknowledges that accountability of educators for the grades they assign is a part of the foundation for a meritocratic society, based on fairness in judging merit and, therefore, in assigning grades. In this view, any grade obtained by any student must be both reliable and valid. READ MORE

  3. 23. Band gap engineering in Cu2ZnGexSn1-xS4 thin film solar cells

    Author : Nishant Saini; Charlotte Platzer-Bjorkman; Jes K Larsen; Edgardo Saucedo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CZTS; CZGTS; bandgap grading; ZTO; KCN-etching; titanium nitride; solar cell; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : Photovoltaics based on kesterite Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) has attracted interest as a sustainable alternative to other thin film technologies due to their tunable material properties and earth-abundance. However, the efficiency is limited to 12. READ MORE

  4. 24. Development of methods and strategies for optimisation of x-ray examinations

    Author : Jonny Hansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; optimisation; visual grading; VGC Analyzer;

    Abstract : The overall aim of the work presented in this thesis was to develop methods and strategies for the optimisation process prescribed by legal authorities for medical X-ray imaging. This overall aim was divided into four detailed aims: 1) to analyse and describe the conditions for the optimisation of a given projectional X-ray examination in a digital environment, 2) to develop an overall strategy for the optimisation work in a radiology department, 3) to develop and implement a suitable method for statistical analysis of visual grading characteristics (VGC) data, and, 4) to evaluate the characteristics of the new statistical method by comparison with receiver operating characteristics (ROC) statistical methodology and by simulations. 5. 25. Sputtering-based processes for thin film chalcogenide solar cells on steel substrates

    Author : Patrice Bras; Charlotte Platzer-Björkman; Eric Jaremalm; Jan Sterner; Veronica Bernudez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : CIGS; CZTS; solar cell; photovoltaics; thin film; sputtering; annealing; gallium grading; blister; uniformity; stainless steel; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : Thin film chalcogenide solar cells are promising photovoltaic technologies. Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS)-based devices are already produced at industrial scale and record laboratory efficiency surpasses 22 %. Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTS) is an alternative material that is based on earth-abundant elements. READ MORE
