  2. 2. Graft polymerization

    Author : Torbjörn Lindberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on morphological aspects of polymericsubstrates used in graft polymerization. Morphological changesof selected polymer systems were investigated in the virginstate and after irradiation, during the progress of graftpolymerization, in the final grafted state and duringsubsequent degradation. 3. 3. Poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) Preparation and Properties in Polymer Blends

    Author : Åsa Halldén; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface modification; Graft copolymers; Polymer blends; Polyethylene; Polyethylene oxide; Polyamide; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the preparation, characterisation and properties of poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) (PE-PEO). The grafting reaction was carried out with the grafting onto method using the carboxylic acid groups of poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) as reactive sites in an esterification reaction with poly(ethylene oxide) mono-methyl ethers (MPEO) of varying molecular weights: 750, 2000 and 5000. 5. 5. Amphiphilic Graft Copolymer Electrolytes for Lithium-Ion Polymer Batteries. - Preparation and Characterisation

    Author : Patrik Gavelin; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemical technology and engineering; transport dynamics; ion conductivity; solid polymer electrolyte; gel electrolyte; macromonomer copolymerization; amphiphilic graft copolymer;

    Abstract : In the present work amphiphilic graft copolymers were prepared by free radical copolymerization of macromonomers in solution. The graft copolymers consisted of methacrylate backbones bearing ethylene oxide (EO)n side chains of varying length as ionophilic groups, and fluorocarbon (CF2)6 side chains or hydrocarbon groups as ionophobic groups.
