  1. 1. Reproductive traits in euryhaline gobies: insights into physiology, adaptations and biological invasions

    Author : Leon Green; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sperm; Reproduction; Life-history Strategies; Local Adaptation; Fish; Invasion Biology; Salinity;

    Abstract : Organisms are adapted to reproduce in their specific environment by a range of different traits. For many animals, reproduction is tied to specific conditions, that trigger or enable the reproductive events. This thesis deals with traits associated with reproduction, their functions and interactions with the environment. READ MORE

  2. 2. Approximation of pluricomplex Green functions : A probabilistic approach

    Author : Azza Alghamdi; Maciej Klimek; Kaj Nyström; Anna Zdunik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pluricomplex Green function; pluriregular sets; Bernstein-Markov property; Bergman function; nearly orthonormal polynomials; orthogonal polynomials; Monte Carlo simulation; composite Julia sets; Julia sets; iterated function systems; the chaos game.;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis focuses on probabilistic methods of approximation of pluricomplex Green functions and is based on four papers.The thesis begins with a general introduction to the use of pluricomplex Green functions in multidimensional complex analysis and a review of their main properties. 3. 3. Histone H1 : Subtypes and phosphorylation in cell life and death

    Author : Anna Gréen; Ingemar Rundquist; Peter Söderkvist; Rolf Ohlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The genetic information of a human diploid cell is contained within approximately 2 metres of linear DNA. The DNA molecules are compacted and organized in various ways to fit inside the cell nucleus. Various kinds of histones are involved in this compaction. One of these histones, histone H1 is the topic of the present thesis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Obstacle Problems for Green Potentials and for Parabolic Quasiminima

    Author : Catarina Petersson; Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Functions; differential equations; Funktioner; differentialekvationer; Matematik; degenerate parabolic operators; Mathematics; quasiminima; obstacle problems; Green potentials;

    Abstract : The thesis consists of two parts. In the first part pure potential theoretic methods are employed to study the obstacle problem connected with a uniformly elliptic second-order differential operator in divergence form. Regular points of the obstacles are characterized by the classical Wiener criterion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Weighted Bergman kernels and biharmonic Green functions

    Author : Stefan Jakobsson; Matematikcentrum; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; singularity resolution of Bergman kernels; Hadamard s variational formula; weighted Bergman kernel; weighted biharmonic Green function; Friedrichs operator; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Abstract : The main theme of this thesis is the connection between weighted biharmonic Green functions and weighted Bergman kernels. In the first paper, which is a joint work with H. Hedenmalm and S. Shimorin, we prove that weighted biharmonic Green functions are positive for weights which satisfy a mean-value condition and whose logarithms are subharmonic. READ MORE
