1. Periodized Thermal Greens Functions and Applications
Abstract : This work describes a new formalism for Fermionic thermal Greens functions that are discretized in imaginary time. The discretization makes the thermal Greens function periodic in imaginary (Matsubara) frequency space and requires a generalisation of the Dyson equation and Luttinger-Ward-Baym-Kadanoff functional. 2. Managing the Urban Greens : Maintaining ecological functions in human dominated landscapes
Abstract : At the core of this thesis lie two realisations: First, like other ecosystems, those in urban landscapes provide humans with a number of ecosystem services, some recognized while others are not. Second, in cities just as in other intensively used social-ecological systems, management is of central importance. READ MORE

3. Bounds on Hilbert Functions
Abstract : This thesis is constituted of two articles, both related to Hilbert functions and h-vectors. In the first paper, we deal with h-vectorsof reduced zero-dimensional schemes in the projective plane, and, in particular, with the problem of finding the possible h-vectors for the union of two sets of points of given h-vectors. 4. Analytical and Numerical Developments in Strongly Correlated Systems: Perspectives from TDDFT and Green's Functions
Abstract : This thesis investigates different methods for treating strongly correlated systems, and discusses their respective strengths and weaknesses. Many of the results presented in this thesis come from comparing the different methods and approximations to exact results. READ MORE

5. Analysis of Planar and Circular Cylindrical Multilayer Structures with Application to Soft and Hard Surfaces
Abstract : This thesis deals with the analysis of planar and circular cylindrical multilayer structures, such as strip-loaded dielectric layers, corrugated surfaces and microstrip antennas. In particular, we study corrugations and strip-loaded grounded dielectric slabs when they are used to realize soft and hard surfaces. READ MORE
