  1. 1. Quantum Mechanical Studies of Electron Transport Processes Including Superconductivity

    Author : Agris Klimkans; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemical calculations; ab initio; electronic;

    Abstract : Processes of electron transfer, charge and spin localization, and electron pair transfer have been studied on the basis of the Marcus model and with the help of accurate quantum chemical calculations. A vibrational model, based on the corrections to the Born-Oppenheimerapproximation, which applies in the case of a vanishing barrier in the Marcus model, has been proposed. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Underground as a Storage Facility. Modelling of Nuclear Waste Repositories and Aquifer Thermal Energy Stores

    Author : Thomas Probert; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; exponential decay; modelling; fractured rock; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; relativity; statistical physics; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; klassisk mekanik; relativitet; kvantmekanik; gravitation; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Environmental technology; pollution control; kontroll av utsläpp; Miljöteknik; conformal flow; heat as a tracer; KBS-3; stress field; temperature field; analytical solution; salt buoyancy; groundwater flow; nuclear waste repository; aquifer thermal energy storage; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Probert;

    Abstract : The underground is a vast region, which is, too a large extent, unused by man. It has a large potential as a storage facility due to its vastness and availability. This thesis, which consists of eleven papers and reports, deals with nuclear waste repositories in solid rock and with aquifer thermal energy storage systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Monocrystalline-Silicon Based RF MEMS Devices

    Author : Mikael Sterner; Joachim Oberhammer; Roberto Sorrentino; KTH; []
    Keywords : RF MEMS; radio frequency; microelectromechanical system; microsystem technology; monocrystalline silicon; switch; tuneable capacitor; high-impedace surface; phase shifter; rectangular waveguide; transmission line;

    Abstract : This thesis presents novel radio-frequency microelectromechanical (RF MEMS) devices, for microwave and millimeter wave applications, designed for process robustness and operational reliability using monocrystalline silicon as structural material. Two families of RF MEMS devices are proposed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Shear in Concrete Structural Elements Subjected to Dynamic Loads

    Author : Johan Magnusson; Anders Ansell; Mikael Hallgren; Richard Malm; Jaap Weerheijm; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dynamic load; initial response; shear failure; shear capacity; numerical simulations; bond; shear span; support reactions; Dynamisk last; initial respons; skjuvbrott; skjuvkapacitet; numeriska simuleringar; förankring; skjuvspännvidd; upplagsreaktioner; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : Concrete structural elements subjected to severe dynamic loads such as explosions at close range may cause shear failures. In the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 two concrete columns on the ground level were reported to have failed in shear. READ MORE

  5. 5. Platinum(II) and Palladium (II) Complexes with Group 14 and 15 Donor Ligands. Synthesis, Structure and Substitution Mechanisms

    Author : Ola Wendt; Kemiska institutionen; []

    Abstract : The present thesis deals with Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes with group 14 and 15 donor ligands. Such complexes have been prepared and investigated mainly with regard to their ground state structures and the mechanism according to which they undergo substitution. READ MORE
