  1. 1. Effect of Compactive Effort on the Behaviour of a Gypsiferous Subgrade Soil

    Author : Dina K Kuttah; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gypsum; Soil; Clay; Compaction; California bearing ratio; Triaxial; Moisture content; Pore water pressure; 62 Road: Soil mechanics; 62 Road: Soil mechanics;

    Abstract : Presented in this thesis is a study of the effect of compactive effort and long-term soaking on strength, stiffness and deformation characteristics of a gypsiferous subgrade soil from Kirkuk city.The tested soil is sandy lean clay (CL) according to the Unified Soil Classification System and A-6 (6) soil according to AASHTO soil classification system. 2. 2. Moisture-induced distortion in timber structures - examples based on partition walls

    Author : Magnus Bäckström; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gypsum wallboard; spiral grain angle; restraint; Norway spruce; Connection; twist; spring;

    Abstract : The shape of timber changes due to variations in moisture content (MC). In Scandinavia, producers normally dry timber to an MC of 18%. However, after the studs are built into the wall structure, for example, they may become distorted as a result of further drying in the structure. The final MC in a heated building in Scandinavia is about 8%. READ MORE

  3. 3. A multi-scale approach for predicting the fire response of building barriers

    Author : Blanca Andrés Valiente; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fire; Building Barriers; Heat transfer; Experimental; Gypsum; Stone wool; furnace; H-TRIS;

    Abstract : Building barriers are compartmentation elements in buildings that limit the passage of fire and smoke to adjacent spaces. They are key elements in the overall response of a building in a fire. The adequate fire response of building barriers is usually assessed by the fulfilment of standardized resistance to fire tests. 4. 4. Portland Cement Clinker - Composition and Hydration

    Author : Anna Emanuelson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; mineralisation; hydration; polymorphism; substitutions; ferrite; aluminate; belite; alite; Portland cement clinker; phase analysis; Oorganisk kemi; Material technology; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Abstract : The crystal structures of the main Portland cement clinker phases are reviewed and two anion centered models of Ca3SiO5 and Ca2SiO4 are presented. The effects of minor elements on the clinkering process, and on the qualitative and quantitative phase compositions of Portland cement clinker are discussed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Accelerate ageing of refuse-derived-fuel (RDF) fly ashes

    Author : Evelina Brännvall; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
