  1. 21. Flotation chemistry of complex sulphide ores : recycling of process water and flotation selectivity

    Author : Fatai Kolawole Ikumapayi; Jaakko Leppinen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineral Processing; Mineralteknik;

    Abstract : Recycling of flotation effluents through the ore processing plant is one of the ways of reducing both plant-operating costs and industrial impact onto the local ecosystem. Such waters named acid mine drainage (AMD), if discharged from sulphide flotation are gypsum (CaSO4.H2O) saturated and have a high salinity (on the order of 1000 ppm). READ MORE

  2. 22. Suitability of industrial residues for preventing acid rock drainage generation from waste rock

    Author : Elsa Nyström; Lena Alakangas; Hanna Kaasalainen; Christian Maurice; Päivi M. Kauppila; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geochemistry; Tillämpad geokemi;

    Abstract : One of the main and most challenging environmental problems related to mining is the generation of acid rock drainage (ARD), a leachate characterized by low pH and elevated concentrations of sulfate, metals, and metalloids formed when sulfide-bearing minerals are subjected to oxygen and water. During the operation of a mine, waste rock is often deposited in heaps and usually left under ambient conditions, enabling sulfides to oxidize. READ MORE

  3. 23. Digital dentistry : studies on the trueness and precision of additive manufacturing and intraoral scanning

    Author : Michael Braian; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Artificial designs and features usually control production workflowsin the industry. The operator has the freedom to adapt designs toachieve the desired function; when the operator is satisfied, massproduction of the two objects is possible. READ MORE

  4. 24. Source, mobility and fate of critical Be, Bi, F and W from historical sulfidic-oxidic skarn tailings : Re-mining as remediation method?

    Author : Lina Hällström; Lena Alakangas; Olof Martinsson; Heather Jamieson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad geokemi; Applied Geochemistry;

    Abstract : There is a potential risk that geochemical cycles of several critical metals will be affected in the pristine environment, when mining of these metals increases to meet the demand in green technology. The identification of critical metals is based on the economic importance and vulnerability to supply restrictions. READ MORE

  5. 25. Towards the Improvement of Salt Extraction from Lake Katwe Raw Materials in Uganda

    Author : Hillary Kasedde; Pär Jönsson; Anders Tilliander; Eric Forssberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lake Katwe; salt extraction; brine; evaporites; saltpan; characterization; evaporation - crystallization; solubility; Pitzer ’s ion - interaction model; PHREEQC software; dissolution kinetics; Avrami model.;

    Abstract : Uganda is well endowed with economic quantities of mineral salts present in the interstitial brines and evaporite deposits of Lake Katwe, a closed (endorheic) saline lake located in the western branch of the great East African rift valley. Currently, rudimentally and artisanal methods continue to be used for salt extraction from the lake raw materials. READ MORE
