1. Droplet microfluidics for high throughput biological analysis
Abstract : Many areas of biological research increasingly perform large-scale analyses. In genomics the entire gene repertoire of an organism is analyzed. Proteomics attempts to understand the function and expression patterns of all proteins in a cell or organism. READ MORE

2. A Gill Filament EROD Assay : Development and Application in Environmental Monitoring
Abstract : A gill filament-based assay for the cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A)-catalysed activity ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) was developed in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and applied to Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus), Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua), saithe (Pollachius virens), and spotted wolffish (Anarhichas minor). Exposure to waterborne β-naphthoflavone (βNF; 10-6 M) induced branchial EROD activity in all species but the spotted wolffish. READ MORE

3. Question Classification in Question Answering Systems
Abstract : Question answering systems can be seen as the next step in information retrieval, allowing users to pose questions in natural language and receive succinct answers. In order for a question answering system as a whole to be successful, research has shown that the correct classification of questions with regards to the expected answer type is imperative. READ MORE

4. Droplet microfluidics for screening and sorting of microbial cell factories
Abstract : Cell factories are cells that have been engineered to produce a compound of interest, ranging from biopharmaceuticals to biofuels. With advances in metabolic engineering, the number of cell factory variants to evaluate has increased dramatically, necessitating screening methods with increased throughput. READ MORE
