  1. 1. Profilactin and the regulation of actin assembly and disassembly

    Author : Håkan Larsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Actin filament assembly and disassembly are believed to be fundamental steps in the mechanism of cell motility in non-muscle cells. Profilactin is a complex between monomeric actin and a small protein, profilin, which inhibits the polymerization of the actin. READ MORE

  3. 3. Human iris characteristics as biomarkers for personality

    Author : Mats Larsson; Håkan Stattin; Nancy Pedersen; Richard J. Rose; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Personality; iris characteristics crypts pigment dots contraction furrows; candidate genes MITF PAX6 SIX3 LMX1B FOXC1 FOXC2 PITX2 BMP4 OLFM3 MSX1 MSX2; anterior cingulate; genetic correlations; heritability; hemispheric asymmetries; approach-related behaviors; Psychology; Psykologi; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : This dissertation explains why behavioral genetic research can be better informed by using characteristics in the human iris as biomarkers for personality, and is divided into five parts. Part I gives an introduction to the classical twin method and an overview of the findings that have led most developmental researchers to recognize that the normal variation of personality depends on a complex interplay between genetic and environmental factors. 4. 4. Toward applications oriented optimal input design with focus on model predictive control

    Author : Christian Larsson; Håkan Hjalmarsson; Cristian Rojas; James Welsh; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Modern control designs are, with few exceptions, in some way model based. In particular, predictive control has rapidly become a popular control strategy, implemented in a large number of industrial plants. Model predictive control (MPC) uses a model to predict the impact of future control inputs on the controlled plant. READ MORE

  5. 5. Leadership for Quality, Effectiveness and Health

    Author : Johan Larsson; Håkan Wiklund; Stig Vinberg; Lars-Åke Mikaelsson; Stefan Lagrosen; Mittuniversitetet; []

    Abstract : Leadership, quality, effectiveness and health are important factors in the achievement of organisational success. Three questions are addressed to study these elements: 1. How do leadership values relate to leadership behaviours, quality methodologies and health in organisations? 2. READ MORE
