  1. 1. Electronic and atomic structure of metal induced reconstructionson Si(lll) and Ge(lll) surfaces studied by PES and STM

    Author : Hanmin M. Zhang; Hanno H. Weitering; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Deposition of metal atoms on semiconductors leads in many cases to reconstructed surfaces. The lack of symmetry in the direction normal to the surface allows for a large variety in the atomic arrangements of the surface reconstructions. In the case of silicon, more than 300 kinds of adsorbate-induced surface reconstructions have been found. READ MORE

  2. 2. Regulation of Intracellular Calcium in Brown Adipocytes

    Author : Shi-Jin Zhang; Lawrence C.H Wang; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoofysiologi; Zoological physiology;

    Abstract : Intracellular Ca2+ is considered a primary regulator of cell function. In the present study, the control and the effects of intracellular Ca2+ in brown adipocytes have been investigated. Cytosolic Ca2+ levels ([Ca2+]i) are the resultant of the activity of Ca2+ transport systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Silicon Nanowire Based Electronic Devices for Sensing Applications

    Author : Qitao Hu; Zhen Zhang; Shi-Li Zhang; Si Chen; Jeehwan Kim; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : The research on new materials is a primary driving force for progress in human society. One of the most significant research topic nowadays is the development of new functional materials for technological applications, like perovskite implemented in solar cells, and graphene as a representative for the new 2D materials family. 5. 5. Applications of Ion Beam Methods in Silicide/Si and Silicide/GaAs Nanometre Structures

    Author : Yanwen Zhang; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phase formation; Nanometre structures; silicide; detection efficiency; Ion Beam Analysis; Ion Beam Synthesis; Time-of-Flight Energy Elastic Recoil Detection ToF-E ERD ; implantation; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Zhang; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Detla E-E ERD;

    Abstract : Ion beam methods are used to analyse material (Ion Beam Analysis, IBA) and to modify the target (Ion Beam Modification of Materials, IBMM). In this thesis, ion beams have been used in various IBA techniques to investigate the surface nanometre structures, and also in an ion beam synthesis (IBS) technique to form thin films and to modify material properties.
