1. Conformationally Constrained Oligonucleotides for RNA Targeting
Abstract : A short oligonucleotide sequence as in a single-stranded antisense oligo nucleotides (AON) or in double-stranded small interfering RNAs (siRNA) can modulate the gene expression by targeting against the cellular mRNA, which can be potentially exploited for therapeutic purposes in the treatment of different diseases. In order to improve the efficacy of oligonucleotide-based drugs, the problem of target affinity, nuclease stability and delivery needs to be addressed. READ MORE

2. Synthesis and Characterization of ZnO Nanostructures
Abstract : One-dimensional ZnO nanostructures have great potential applications in the fields of optoelectronic and sensor devices. Therefore, it is very important to realize the controllable growth of one-dimensional ZnO nanostructures and investigate their properties. READ MORE

3. Bio-based nonionic antimicrobial polymers with isatin or indole functionality
Abstract : Infections by pathogenic microorganisms remain one of the most serious concerns in several areas, particularly in hygienic applications. Antimicrobials have been used to combat these infections. Using small molecular antimicrobials as additives or coatings is an industrially adopted strategy. READ MORE

4. Quantum Force in Wigner Space
Abstract : In this thesis, I will present effective methods to study quantum dynamics using trajec- tories. Our methods are based on a method named the Classical Wigner model which starts with a quantum initial condition and generates trajectories which are propagated in time using a classical force. 5. Ab initio based modeling of defects and disorder in industrial materials
Abstract : The study of defects and disorder in condensed matter remains a central subject of materials science. Newly emerging experimental and theoretical techniques promote our understanding in this field, and reveal many interesting phenomena in which the atomic picture plays a crucial role. READ MORE
