  2. 2. Multi-LSTM Acceleration and CNN Fault Tolerance

    Author : Stefano Ribes; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Learning; Fault Tolerance; LSTMs; Caffe; CNNs; SVD; Roofline Model; Compression; HLS; FPGA;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the following two problems related to the field of Machine Learning: the acceleration of multiple Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) models on FPGAs and the fault tolerance of compressed Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). LSTMs represent an effective solution to capture long-term dependencies in sequential data, like sentences in Natural Language Processing applications, video frames in Scene Labeling tasks or temporal series in Time Series Forecasting.     Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Health literacy; S-FHL; HLS-EU-Q16; Asylum seeker; Migrant; Immigrant; Experiences; Health check-up; Communication; Information; Self-perceived health; Mental health; Health-seeking behaviour; Refrained from healthcare; Screening; Disease prevention; Health promotion; Quality of care; Equity in health; Social Medicine; Socialmedicin;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to examine the distribution of health literacy (HL) levels in newly arrived Arabic-, Dari-, or Somali-speaking refugees in Sweden. Further aims were to investigate sociodemographic characteristics associated with inadequate HL in this group, and to investigate whether HL levels are associated with experiences of the health examination for asylum seekers (HEA), health seeking behaviour and health. 4. 4. Induction and repair of DNA double-strand breaks in human cells exposed to different radiation qualities

    Author : Irina Radulescu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; DSB; chromatin structure; high-LET; heat-labile sites; PFGE; DNA-PKcs; XRCC1; PARP-1; pATM; gamma-H2AX; 53BP1;

    Abstract : Radiation therapy is used in attempting to kill tumor cells by inducing DNA double-strand breaks (DSB), the most critical DNA lesions. Recent and planned radiation therapy strategies use high-linear energy transfer (LET) radiation to effectively treat malignant tumors. READ MORE

  5. 5. Effects of in vitro fertilization on thrombosis and haemostasis and the relationship between infertility and cardiovascular disease

    Author : Eli Westerlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Background: Infertility afflicts more than 10% of all couples worldwide. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is now performed at an ever increasing rate. There is scarce information concerning the associations between cardiovascular disease (CVD), venous thromboembolism (VTE) and infertility. READ MORE
