  1. 1. Characterisation of HMGB1 in inflammation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Women's and Children's Health

    Author : Therese Östberg; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2008]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : High mobility group box chromosomal protein 1 (HMGB1) was discovered over three decades ago as a nuclear protein which is present in all mammalian nucleated cells. Subsequent studies have revealed additional properties of HMGB1 besides its originally described nuclear functions. READ MORE

  2. 2. The inflammatory and immunogenic properties of the receptor for advanced glycation end products and its ligand, high mobility group box chromosomal protein 1

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Göteborg University

    Author : Rille Pullerits; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HMGB1; sRAGE; rheumatoid arthritis; inflammation; cytokines;

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic inflammatory joint disease, the pathogenesis of which is complex, involving a wide range of molecules. High mobility group box chromosomal protein 1 (HMGB1) is a nuclear protein recently recognised as a pro-inflammatory cytokine which levels are increased in RA patients. READ MORE

  3. 3. HMGB1 in inflammation : Secretion and function

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Medicine

    Author : Heidi Wähämaa; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2008]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterised by progressive joint destruction. The inflammatory and joint destructive processes in RA are mediated by resident synovial cells and cells recruited from the blood stream and bone marrow. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dual cytokine inducing properties of HMGB1

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medicine, Solna

    Author : Hulda Hreggvidsdottir; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : High mobility group box protein 1 (HMGB1) is a nuclear protein that can be released either passively by necrotic cells or actively by stimulated cells. Extracellular HMGB1 is a potent inducer of inflammation and the importance of HMGB1 as a mediator in a number of inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, sepsis and ischemia‐reperfusion injury, has been demonstrated by successfully targeting the protein in preclinical models. 5. 5. HMGB1 : regulation of inflammatory functions and therapeutic blockade

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medicine, Solna

    Author : Peter Lundbäck; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The intracellular protein High Mobility Group Box Protein 1 (HMGB1) has been identified as a pivotal mediator of inflammation. HMGB1 can be released by various mechanisms and as an inflammatory mediator it induces both migration of inflammatory cells and cytokine production. READ MORE
