  1. 1. Principles of Biomass Pyrolysis with Emphasis on the Formation of the Nitrogen-Containing Gases HNCO, HCN and NH3

    Author : Karl-Martin Hansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pyrolysis; depolymerisation; NH3; HCN; crack formation; fragmentation; combustion time; pyrolysis time; HNCO; biomass; shrinkage;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates some aspects of the pyrolysis and combustion of biomass. The emphasis of the work is on the formation of nitrogen-containing species under pyrolysis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Computational Fluid Dynamics and Experimental Studies of the Urea-SCR System

    Author : Andreas Lundström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; urea; SCR; decomposition; CYA; HNCO; NH3; CFD; thermolysis;

    Abstract : Volatile emissions produced by the burning of fossil fuels may be converted on a catalyst to less harmful products. During lean combustion an excess of oxygen in the exhaust gases together with a catalyst effectively oxidizes carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies of hydrocarbon-assisted selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides - DME as reductant and reaction mechanism over silver/alumina

    Author : Stefanie Tamm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ZSM-5; NCO; HC-SCR; Dimethyl ether; reaction mechanism; silver alumina;

    Abstract : Increasing amounts of carbon dioxide are attaining worldwide growing attention as one probable cause for global warming. Together with the expected peak in oil production and an increasing oil demand, this results in a greater interest in more fuel effective lean burn engines (i.e. operation with excess oxygen). 4. 4. FTIR Studies and Kinetic Modelling of NOX Reduction and NOX Storage

    Author : Björn Westerberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NOX storage; kinetic modelling; diesel exhaust; alumina; NOX reduction; FTIR spectroscopy; catalysis;

    Abstract : FTIR spectroscopy and kinetic modelling have been used to study catalysts for NOX reduction and NOX storage. For Pt/Al2O3 exposed to NO, oxygen and propene IR-bands associated with nitrates, acetate, formate, carbonates and isocyanate were observed. Experiments with NO, oxygen and HNCO showed that isocyanate is an intermediate for reduction of NOX. READ MORE
