  1. 1. Nanostructured carbon materials prepared by hole-mask colloidal lithography

    Author : Hans Fredriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HOPG; GC; Colloidal Lithography; Oxygen; RIE; Nanofabrication;

    Abstract : Research and development of nanofabrication methods can be motivated both formanufacturing of commercially available products like micro electronic componentsand for development of model systems for fundamental and applied science. Thefabrication process developed during this work, hole-mask colloidal lithography(HCL), is primarily oriented towards the latter two, specifically for research in thefields of catalysis, nanoparticle plasmons, and bio- and fundamental physics. 2. 2. Nanostructures of Graphite and Amorphous Carbon - Fabrication and Properties

    Author : Hans Fredriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical resonance; Raman-spectrum; carbon; optical spectrum; HOPG; GC amorphous carbon; oxidation; Nanofabrication;

    Abstract : Nanoscience is a well-established research area, which concerns properties and fabrication of objects with typical dimensions on the 1-100 nanometer length scale. A central issue has been the development of techniques for fabrication and characterization of nanometer sized objects, which have contributed considerably to progress in both practical applications and fundamental research. 3. 3. Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy Studies of Na Islands on Graphite, Impurity Interactions on Cu(111) and Low Temperature Structures of S/Cu(111)

    Author : Erik Wahlström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photoelectron spectroscopy; Scanning tunnelling microscopy STM ; Na HOPG; scanning tunnelling spectroscopy STS ; metal quantum wells; surface impurity interaction; S Cu 111 ;

    Abstract : A scanning tunnelling microscope (STM) can reveal the atomic order of a surface as well as details of its electronic structure. In the present work STM, in combination with core and valence photo-electron spectroscopy and low energy electron diffraction (LEED) was applied to three different systems: (i) simple metal quantum wells in the form of Na films and islands on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG), (ii) low temperature S/Cu(111) structures discovered in the course of this work and (iii) impurities on Cu(111). 4. 4. Electronic and Geometrical Structure of Phthalocyanines on Surfaces : An Electron Spectroscopy and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Study

    Author : John Åhlund; Carla Puglia; Joachim Schiessling; Emanuelle Göthelid; Nils Mårtensson; Nadine Witkowski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; PhotoElectron Spectroscopy PES ; X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy XAS ; UltraViolet-Visible absorption spectroscopy UV-Vis ; Scanning Tunneling Microscopy STM ; Phthalocyanine Pc ; Iron Phthalocyanine FePc ; metal-free Phthalocyanine H2Pc ; Zinc Phthalocyanine ZnPc ; Graphite HOPG ; Indium Antimony InSb ; Surface science; Fysik;

    Abstract : Core- and Valence Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES), X-ray- and Ultraviolet-Visible Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS and UV-Vis), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations are used to study the electronic and geometrical structure of a class of macro-cyclic molecules, Phthalocyanines (Pc), on surfaces. These molecules are widely studied due to their application in many different fields. READ MORE
