21. Inflammation and cortisol response in coronary artery disease
Abstract : Atherosclerosis is characterized by a chronic inflammation, involving autoimmune components, in the arterial wall. An increase in proinflammatory activity relative to anti-inflammatory activity is considered to cause a progression of the disease towards plaque instability and risk of atherothrombotic events, such as acute coronary syndrome (ACS). 22. Individual glucocorticoid sensitivity in the human
Abstract : The expanding use of inhaled and intranasal glucocorticoid (Gc) preparations for treatment of mild-to-moderate asthma and allergic rhinitis has in the last decade greatly increased the number of adults and children chronically exposed to exogenous glucocorticoids. In general, current topical glucocorticoid therapies appear to be well tolerated. READ MORE

23. Subjective annoyance attributed to electrical equipments and smells - Epidemiology and stress physiology
Abstract : Self-reported annoyance from electrical equipment has been in evidence since the mid-eighties, and the first reports of illness from everyday chemicals arose already in the 1960?s. However, the extent of the problem or the mechanisms behind the development of environmentally related annoyance has not yet been fully established. READ MORE

24. The influence of status epilepticus on adeno-pituitary hormone secretion in man : with special reference to prolactin
Abstract : Epileptic seizures as well as antiepileptic drugs (AED) may interfere with the hypothalamic pituitary axis (HPA) and have neuroendocrine effects. A transient increase of prolactin (PRL) and cortisol in serum after generalised tonic-clonic or complex partial seizures has been one of the most consistent findings, although absences and myoclonic seizures, as well as seizures of very short duration, do not seem to affect PRL levels. 25. Heparan sulfate dependent cell signaling and associated pathophysiology : Implications in tumorigenesis and embryogenesis
Abstract : Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) consist of a protein core to which several linear, negatively charged heparan sulfate (HS) chains are covalently attached. HSPGs are expressed on the cell surface and in the extra-cellular matrix (ECM) where they have diverse biological functions, for example co-receptor functions. READ MORE
