    Abstract : In a variety of engineering applications, components are subjected to corrosive environment. Protective coatings are essential to improve the functional performances and/or extend the lifetime of the components. READ MORE

  2. 2. Material Solutions for Mitigating High Temperature Corrosion in Biomass- and Waste-fired Boilers - Utilizing Novel FeCrAl Alloys and HVAF-sprayed Ni-based Coatings

    Author : Johan Eklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste; HVAF; High temperature corrosion; Biomass; FeCrAl alloys; Ni-based coatings; Silicon;

    Abstract : Combustion of biomass and waste for heat and electricity production is a promising alternative to fossil fuels and is thereby an important step towards a more sustainable future. However, due to substantial amounts of alkali- and chlorine-containing species as well as moisture in biomass and waste, the combustion of these results in a highly corrosive environment which accelerates the degradation of steel components in the boiler, drastically increasing the maintenance costs. Abstract : Combustion of biomass and waste for heat and power production is an alternative to fossil fuels and can be an important step towards a more sustainable future. The electrical efficiency of the fuel-to-energy conversion process is largely dependent on the steam parameters (temperature and pressure) of the combined heat and power (CHP) plants. READ MORE

  4. 4. Tribological behaviour of HVAF-sprayed WC-based coatings: : Role of process variables and binder chemistry

    Author : Kaveh Torkashvand; Mohit Kumar Gupta; Shrikant V. Joshi; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribological Behaviour; HVAF; WC-Based Coatings; Process Variables; Binder Chemistry; Tribologisk Prestanda; HVAF; WC-baserade Beläggningar; Parametervariabler; Bindemedelskemi; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Tungsten carbide (WC) based metallic matrix coatings sprayed using high velocity air fuel (HVAF) technique have attracted increasing attention as they show excellent tribological performance in various wear conditions. In the HVAF method, particles’ in-flight temperature and velocity can be influenced by the process variables including nozzle configuration as well as feedstock particle size range. READ MORE
