1. Efficient carbohydrate synthesis by controlled inversion strategies
Abstract : The Lattrell-Dax method of nitrite-mediated substitution of carbohydrate triflates is an efficient method to generate structures of inverse configuration. In this study it has been demonstrated that a neighboring equatorial ester group plays a highly important role in this carbohydrate epimerization reaction, inducing the formation of inversion compounds in good yields. 2. Efficient Carbohydrate Synthesis By Intra- and Supramolecular Control
Abstract : The Lattrell-Dax method of nitrite-mediated substitution of carbohydrate triflates is an efficient method to generate structures of inverse configuration. In this study, the effects of the neighboring group on the Lattrell-Dax inversion were explored. READ MORE

3. Oxidation and Corrosion of New MCrAlX Coatings : Modelling and Experiments
Abstract : MCrAlY coatings (“M” for Ni and/or Co) are widely used for the protection of superalloy components operated at high temperatures such as in the hot sections of gas turbines. The exposure to high temperature can cause coating degradation due to oxidation or hot corrosion at the coating surface. READ MORE

4. Thermal and Mechanical Behaviors of High Temperature Coatings
Abstract : With superior oxidation and corrosion resistance, metallic coatings (i.e. diffusion coatings and MCrAlX coatings) are widely used to protect hot components made of superalloys in turbine engines. READ MORE

5. Evaluating implementation strategies for improved food safety in Vietnam
Abstract : Pork is the most popular and consumed meat in Vietnam, and the preference among consumers for fresh and “warm” pork makes the traditional pork value chain dominate the pork industry. This thesis assessed microbial contamination in pork, then evaluated the technical and economic aspects of light-touch interventions in improving the safety of pork in the small-scale value chain.
