  1. 6. FPGA-based Instrumentation for Advanced Physics Experiments

    Author : Attila Hidvégi; Samuel Silverstein; Martin Grossmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Instrumentation; Data acquisition; clock distribution; trigger; FPGA; PCB; LHC; ATLAS; XFEL; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Modern physical experiments often demand advanced instrumentation based on advances in  technology. This work describes four instrumentation physics projects that are based on modern, high-capacity Field-Programmable Gate Arrays, making use of their versatility, programmability, high bandwidth communication interfaces and signal processing capabilities. 2. 7. Conceptual design and investigation of hydrogen-fueled regional freighter aircraft

    Author : Kolja Seeckt; Arthur Rizzi; Petter Krus; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the conceptual design and comparison of five versions of regional freighter aircraft based on the ATR 72. The versions comprise four baseline designs differing in their propulsion systems (jet/turboprop) and the fuel they use (kerosene/hydrogen). READ MORE

  3. 8. Jet Production and Parton Dynamics in Deep Inelastic Scattering

    Author : Mattias Davidsson; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum field theory; Elementary particle physics; DIS; ep scattering; HERA; H1; jets; small-x; Parton Dynamics; Elementarpartikelfysik; kvantfältteori; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Davidsson;

    Abstract : Hard QCD processes have been studied by measuring the di-jet event rate for deep inelastic scattering in the kinematic range 5 < Q2 < 100 GeV2 and 10-4 < x < 10-2. The jets we re reconstructed using the cone algorithm in the hadronic center-of-mass frame in which the transverse momentum of the jets were required to be greater than 5 GeV. READ MORE

  4. 9. A Study of Parton Dynamics from Deep Inelastic Scattering Events Containing a Jet in the Forward Direction

    Author : Martin Karlsson; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum field theory; Elementary particle physics; DIS; ep scattering; H1; jets; forward jet; small-x; parton dynamics; Elementarpartikelfysik; kvantfältteori; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Karlsson;

    Abstract : The DIS ep-scattering parton dynamics at low-x is characterised by an initial state cascade in which the virtualities of the propagator gluons are expected to take any kinematically allowed value, in contrast to the leading log behaviour. These dynamics might be enhanced by selecting events in which an energetic jet is found in the forward angular region at HERA, 1. READ MORE

  5. 10. Interaction of Ultrashort X-ray Pulses with Material

    Author : Magnus Bergh; Janos Hajdu; Andrea Cavalleri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; free-electron laser; dense plasma; X-ray; radiation damage; laser physics; nano-plasma; Molecular Dynamics; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik;

    Abstract : Radiation damage limits the resolution in imaging experiments. Damage is caused by energy deposited into the sample during exposure. Ultrashort and extremely bright X-ray pulses from free-electron lasers (FELs) offer the possibility to outrun key damage processes, and temporarily improve radiation tolerance. READ MORE
