  2. 2. Hand-arm vibration syndrome; Consequences for hand function and quality of life

    Author : Ragnhild Cederlund; Hållbar vardag och hälsa i ett livsperspektiv; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatologi; traumatology; Kirurgi; Surgery; orthopaedics; questionnaires; tests; assessments; outcomes; ill-health; well-being; activities of daily living ADL ; quality of life; hand function; hand symptoms; Vibration exposure; Hand-arm vibration syndrome HAVS ;

    Abstract : Workers exposed to hand-held vibrating machines may risk developing a hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), a condition which can cause chronic impairment and disability. The aims of this thesis were 1) to obtain deeper insight and further knowledge of HAVS and the consequences for hand function, and aspects of quality of life (QoL); 2) to investigate the usefulness of clinical assessments in diagnosing HAVS; 3) to evaluate a treatment method for patients with severe cold intolerance. 3. 3. Vibration-induced neuropathy in the hand

    Author : Trygve Strömberg; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; vibrotactile sense.; vibration; Schwann cells; Raynaud’s phenomenon; peripheral neuropathy; pathology; neurone; nerve fibres; muscular weakness; hand; Carpal tunnel syndrome; cold intolerance; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to investigate clinical, pathophysiological and structural aspects of vibration-induced peripheral neuropathy since work with hand-held vibrating tools may lead to progressive neurological and vascular hand symptoms. Symptomatic vibration-exposed men were examined clinically and by neurography, tactilometry, and vibrometry and by measurement of temperature perception thresholds. READ MORE

  4. 4. Vibration-induced muscle injury in the hand - experimental and clinical studies

    Author : Lars Necking; Malmö Handkirurgi; []

    Abstract : Exposure to vibration is known to cause vasospastic white fingers and/or sensorineural symtoms such as numbness and tingling in fingers and/or musculoskeletal disorders such as reduction in muscle force, fatigue and reduced endurance. Classifications for the vasospastic and sensorineural symptoms are established. READ MORE

  5. 5. Hand-held Augmented Reality for Facility Maintenance

    Abstract : Buildings and public infrastructures are crucial to our societies in that they provide habitations, workplaces, commodities and services indispensible to our daily life. As vital parts of facility management, operations and maintenance (O&M) ensure a facility to continuously function as intended, which take up the longest time in a facility’s life cycle and demand great expense.
