  1. 1. Electronic and atomic structure of metal induced reconstructionson Si(lll) and Ge(lll) surfaces studied by PES and STM

    Author : Hanmin M. Zhang; Hanno H. Weitering; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Deposition of metal atoms on semiconductors leads in many cases to reconstructed surfaces. The lack of symmetry in the direction normal to the surface allows for a large variety in the atomic arrangements of the surface reconstructions. In the case of silicon, more than 300 kinds of adsorbate-induced surface reconstructions have been found. READ MORE

  2. 2. Electronic Structure and Film Morphology Studies of PTCDI on Metal/Semiconductor Surfaces

    Author : Christian Emanuelsson; Hanmin Zhang; Lars Johansson; Ellen Moons; Mats Ahmadi Götelid; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PTCDI; STM; LEED; XPS; UPS; NEXAFS; Organic Films; Semicondcutor Surfaces; Electronic Structure; Molecular Interactions; Film Morphology; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Organic semiconductors have received increasing attention over the last decades as potential alternatives for inorganic semiconductors. The properties of these films are highly dependent on their structural order. READ MORE

  3. 3. Growth and Characterization of ZnO Nanocrystals

    Author : Leif KE Ericsson; Kjell O Magnusson; Lars SO Johansson; Hanmin M Zhang; Omer Nour; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ZnO; Nanocrystals; Surface physics; XPS; SEM; AES; AFM; STM; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The understanding of surfaces of materials is of crucial importance to all of us. Considering nanocrystals (NCs), that have a large surface to bulk ratio, the surfaces become even more important. Therefore, it is important to understand the fundamental surface properties in order to use NCs efficiently in applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thin Mn silicide and germanide layers studied by photoemission and STM

    Author : Joakim Hirvonen Grytzelius; Lars Johansson; Hanmin Zhang; Leif Johansson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiconductor surfaces; Si 111 ; Ge 111 ; manganese; Mn; silicides; germanides; atomic structure; electronic structure; magnetic properties; LEED; ARPES; XPS; core-level spectroscopy; STM; STS; XMCD; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The research presented in this thesis concerns experimental studies of thin manganese silicide and germanide layers, grown by solid phase epitaxy on the Si(111)7×7 and the Ge(111)c(2×8) surfaces, respectively. The atomic and electronic structures, as well as growth modes of the epitaxial Mn-Si and Mn-Ge layers, were investigated by low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES), core-level spectroscopy (CLS), and scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM and STS). 5. 5. Scanning tunneling microscopy and photoemission studies of Ag films on metal/semiconductor surfaces

    Author : Samuel Starfelt; Hanmin Zhang; Lars Johansson; Anders Mikkelsen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum well states; thin films; semiconductor; STM; STS; ARPES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The research presented in this thesis has been focused on the study of thin Ag films, grown on metal-reconstructed Si(111) and Ge(111) surfaces.The films have been grown at room temperature, and the morphologiesand electronic structures of the films have been investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS), low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy(ARPES).
