  1. 1. Recycling and durability of PVC materials focusing on pre- and post-consumer wastes from building products

    Author : Nazdaneh Yarahmadi; SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut *(2016-12-31) SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accelerated ageing; Activation energy; Annealing; Cables; Dehydrochlorination; Dismantling; DSC; Elongation at break; Emissions; Energy recovery; Flooring; Heat ageing; Lifetime; Orientation; Physical ageing; Plasticised PVC; Plasticiser depletion; Profiles; Recycling; Repeated extrusion; Residual stability; Rigid PVC; Sustainable building; Chlorination; Degradation; Durability; Mechanical properties; Plastic building materials; Plasticizers; Stabilizers agents ; Tensile properties; Molecular level; Polyvinyl chlorides;

    Abstract : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials. 2. 2. Experimental Evolution of Life-history : Testing the Evolutionary Theories of Ageing

    Author : Hwei-yen Chen; Alexei Maklakov; Tracey Chapman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : senescence; ageing; longevity; mortality; experimental evolution; Caenorhabditis remanei; Biologi; Biology;

    Abstract : Ageing reduces fitness, but how ageing evolves is still unclear. Evolutionary theory of ageing hinges on the fundamental principal that the force of natural selection declines with age. READ MORE

  3. 3. Heat treatment of Al-Si-Cu-Mg casting alloys

    Author : Emma Sjölander; Salem Seifeddine; Ingvar Svensson; Sten Johansson; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cast aluminium alloys; Heat treatment; Solution treatment; Artificial ageing; Tensile properties; Plastic deformation; Microstructure; Modelling;

    Abstract : Environmental savings can be made by increasing the use of aluminium alloys in the automotive industry as the vehicles can be made lighter. Increasing the knowledge about the heat treatment process is one task in the direction towards this goal. The aim of this work is to investigate and model the heat treatment process for Al-Si casting alloys. READ MORE

  4. 4. Short-term effects of ambient temperature on daily deaths and hospital admissions

    Author : Joacim Rocklöv; Bertil Forsberg; Jan Semenza; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; temperature; humidity; weather; climate; climate change; hot; heat; cold; cold spell; cold wave; heat wave; health; hospitalization; hospital admission; death; mortality; morbidity; epidemiology; environmental epidemiology; time series; Public health medicine research areas; Folkhälsomedicinska forskningsområden; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Abstract : Background: Incidence of death and hospitalizations have been observed to depend on short-term changes in weather and to increase with extreme temperatures. This thesis aims to strengthen the scientific knowledge on the relationship between temperature and daily deaths, but also the relationship between temperature and daily hospital admissions. 5. 5. Flow-induced Surface Defects and Ageing Behaviour of Injection-moulded Polymers

    Author : Giovanna Iannuzzi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PP; surface defects; flow marks tiger stripes ; ageing; Injection moulding; ABS; rheological properties; degradation; surface topography; discolouration;

    Abstract : Injection moulding is one of the most commonly used manufacturing methods for the production of polymer-based components such as car bumpers and other automotive details. The surface appearance of these products is of great importance since it is directly connected to the perceived quality. READ MORE
