  1. 1. Exhaust Heat Utilisation and Losses in Internal Combustion Engines with Focus on the Gas Exchange System

    Author : Habib Aghaali; Hans-Erik Ångström; Carlos Guardiola; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbocharger; heat transfer; heat loss; exhaust heat utilisation; waste heat recovery; turbocompound; divided exhaust period; internal combustion engine; gas exchange; pumping loss; variable valve timing; WHR; DEP; Turbo; värmeöverföring; värmeförluster; avgasvärme utnyttjande; förluster vid värmeåtervinning; turbocompound; delad avgasperiod; förbränningsmotor; gasväxling; pumpningsförlust; variabla ventiltider; WHR; DEP; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Exhaust gas energy recovery should be considered in improving fuel economy of internal combustion engines. A large portion of fuel energy is wasted through the exhaust of internal combustion engines. Turbocharger and turbocompound can, however, recover part of this wasted heat. READ MORE

  2. 2. Temperature and heat losses simulation in core and winding of a power transformer

    Author : Kourosh Mousavi Takami; Mahmoudi Jafar; Lennart Harnefors; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electric Power Transformer; Losses; Simulation; Temperature; Calculation; Electric power engineering; Elkraftteknik; elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Simulering av temperatur och värmeförluster i kärna och lindning för en högspänningstransformator “... Ett ljus som lyser dubbelt så starkt, varar hälften så länge …”, i analogi med ljuset så kan transformatorer köras med överlast inom vissa gränser, men med följden att livslängden blir kortare. 3. 3. Sustainable building ventilation solutions with heat recovery from waste heat

    Author : Behrouz Nourozi; Sture Holmberg; Adnan Ploskic; Qian Wang; Shia-Hui Peng; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wastewater heat recovery; balanced mechanical ventilation; defrosting reduction; heat recovery efficiency; thermal load shifting; renewables; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : The energy used by building sector accounts for approximately 40% of the total energy usage. In residential buildings, 30-60% of this energy is used for space heating which is mainly wasted by transmission heat losses. A share of 20-30% is lost by the discarded residential wastewater and the rest is devoted to ventilation heat loss. READ MORE

  4. 4. Clothing Evaporative Resistance: Its Measurements and Application in Prediction of Heat Strain

    Author : Faming Wang; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal manikin; clothing ensemble; evaporative resistance; localised evaporative resistance; thermophysiological response; heat stress; heat strain; the Predicted Heat Strain PHS model;

    Abstract : Clothing evaporative resistance is one of the most important inputs for both the modelling and for standards dealing with thermal comfort and heat stress. It might be determined on guarded hotplates, on sweating manikins or even on human subjects. READ MORE
