  1. 16. Waste-Heat Recovery from Combustion Engines based on the Rankine Cycle

    Author : Gunnar Latz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rankine cycle; waste heat recovery; energy losses; energy efficiency; vehicle propulsion;

    Abstract : The majority of the energy in the fuel burned by the combustion engines used in modern vehicles is lost in the form of waste heat and does not contribute to the propulsion of the vehicle. Three different technologies have been proposed for recovering some of this lost heat and thereby increasing the overall efficiency of combustion engines: the turbocompound, thermoelectric converters, and heat engines based on the Rankine cycle. 2. 17. Waste-heat Recovery Using Thermoelectricity and Silicon Carbide Power Electronics

    Author : Arash Edvin Risseh; Hans-Peter Nee; Torbjörn Thiringer; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermoelectricity; Power converter; Silicon Carbide; MOSFET; Power management; Thermoelectric generator; Renewable energy; Vehicle; Power electronic; Waste heat; Ultra-low inductance; Power module; Termoelektrisk energiomvandling; Kiselkarbid MOSFET; Effektomvandlare; Förnybar energikälla; Effektelektronik; Spillvärme; Effektmodul; Låg induktiv module; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Energy consumption in the world has increased continuously due to a growing population and increased energy consumption per capita. Moreover, the largest part of consumed energy still comes from fossil sources which in 2016 was more than 130 PWh. READ MORE

  3. 18. Thermodynamic aspects and heat transfer characteristics of HiTAC furnaces with regenerators

    Author : Nabil Rafidi; Wlodzimierz Blasiak; John Witton; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Combustion; flameless; oxy-fuel; heat-recirculation; gas-recirculation; heat transfer; furnace; radiant-tube; regenerative burner; honeycomb; fixed-bed; Thermal energy engineering; Termisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Oxygen-diluted Combustion (OdC) technology has evolved from the concept of Excess Enthalpy Combustion and is characterized by reactants of low oxygen concentration and high temperature. Recent advances in this technology have demonstrated significant energy savings, high and uniform thermal field, low pollution, and the possibility for downsizing the equipment for a range of furnace applications. 4. 19. Nano-EngineeredThermoelectric Materials for Waste Heat Recovery

    Author : Mohsin Saleemi; Muhammet Toprak; Mari-Ann Einarsrud; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Energy crisis and thermal management related issues have been highlighted in the modern century due to escalating demands for energy consumption and global warming from fossil fuels. Sustainable and alternative energy sources are an ever growing global concern. READ MORE

  5. 20. Thermodynamic Cycles for Low- and High-Temperature Waste Heat Recovery from Heavy-Duty Engines

    Author : Jelmer Johannes Rijpkema; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
