21. Vibration based diagnostics for analysis of combustion properties and noise emissions of IC engines
Abstract : The major challenge in engine diagnostics, monitoring and optimisation is to maintain competitive fuel economy, refinement and specific power while at the same time keeping noise and exhaust emissions at acceptable levels. This requires development and integration of fuel delivery, combustion and after-treatment systems. READ MORE

22. Thermo-Acoustic Properties in Combustion Chambers
Abstract : Design and analysis methods for gas turbine combustors or afterburners have to be improved in particular regarding the prediction of combustion instabilites. A methodology, which combines the use of a linearized flow solver and an Arnoldi algorithm performing the eigenmode extraction procedure, resolves eigenmodes which are candidates to these instabilities. 23. Alkali Uptake and Release from Oxygen Carriers in Chemical Looping Applications: Development and Application of Reactor Systems and Measurement Techniques
Abstract : Chemical looping combustion (CLC) of biomass is a heat and power generation technology with minimal associated costs for carbon capture, potentially resulting in negative CO2 emissions. The CLC technology utilizes fluidized beds of oxygen carrier (OC) particles to separate CO2 from the combustion air. READ MORE

24. Numerical Investigations on Debris Bed Coolability and Mitigation Measures in Nordic Boiling Water Reactors
Abstract : This thesis is aiming at coolability assessment of particulate debris beds formed in hypothetical severe accidents of Nordic boiling water reactors (BWRs) which may employ either lower drywell flooding or control rod guide tubes (CRGT) cooling as severe accident management strategies. For this purpose, quench and cooling limit (dryout) of debris beds after their formation from fuel coolant interactions were investigated by numerical simulations using the MEWA code. READ MORE

25. Thermal response test : numerical simulations and analyses
Abstract : When constructing large borehole heat exchanger (BHE) systems, bedrock and borehole thermal properties are vital for a good design. Today's design programs presume conductive heat transfer in both borehole and bedrock. READ MORE
