11. Heat and Mass Transfer in Impingement Cooking. Aspects of Food Quality
Abstract : Hot air impingement is a special form of forced convection, where the air is focused through the use of nozzles at a surface. In combination with rather high air velocities, a jet like phenomenon can evolve, which when used in for example cooking can achieve high heat transfer capacities. An Impingement oven prototype was constructed. READ MORE

12. Heat and Mass Transfer to a Single Particle in Fluidized Bed
Abstract : Heat and mass transfer to/from a single active particle in bubbling and circulating fluidized beds have been studied with application to fluidized bed combustion. A method of calculation of the heat and mass transfer coefficients in a bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) has been developed. READ MORE

13. Thermodynamic aspects and heat transfer characteristics of HiTAC furnaces with regenerators
Abstract : Oxygen-diluted Combustion (OdC) technology has evolved from the concept of Excess Enthalpy Combustion and is characterized by reactants of low oxygen concentration and high temperature. Recent advances in this technology have demonstrated significant energy savings, high and uniform thermal field, low pollution, and the possibility for downsizing the equipment for a range of furnace applications. 14. Pool Boiling on Structured Surfaces: Heat Transfer and Critical Heat Flux : Experiments and Mechanistic Modelling
Abstract : In this thesis, pool boiling heat transfer was experimentally studied on structured surfaces with dielectric liquids (HFE-7200, NOVEC-649, FC-72), organic liquids (Acetone, Pentane) and deionized water. In the first step, nanoparticle coatings on copper surfaces were prepared by an electrophoretic deposition method, with Cu-Zn nanoparticles (100 nm) and Cu nanoparticles (150 nm). 15. Reduction of heat transfer and heat load in internal combustion engines
Abstract : Thermal insulation of the combustion chamber in an engine has great potential to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Research on thermal barrier coatings (TBC) has been performed since the early eighties to address this potential. READ MORE
