  1. 1. Quantum electronic transport in low-dimensional semiconductors

    Author : Heiner Linke; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum transport; two-dimensional electron gas; contact-free characterisation; ballistic transport; mesoscopic; electron billiard; quantum dot; electron-electron interaction; non-linear; phase breaking; Halvledarfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Linke; non-symmetric conductio; Semiconductory physics; low-dimensional structures;

    Abstract : Electronic transport is studied at low temperatures in two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) and in mesoscopic semiconductor microstructures. The method of microwave-detection of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect for the contact-free characterisation of transport properties of 2DEGs is explored using both magnetic-field modulation and light-induced carrier modulation. 2. 2. Aerosol-cloud interaction from an observational and modeling perspective

    Author : Anders Engström; Annica Ekman; Heiner Körnich; Philip Stier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : Clouds may respond strongly to changes in the atmospheric aerosol population, and the response of clouds to an increased global aerosol burden could to some extent mask the warming caused by enhanced greenhouse gas concentrations. However, estimates of the impact of aerosols on cloud properties are associated with large uncertainties, both because of difficulties representing the aerosol-cloud interaction within models, and because of problems of unequivocally isolating the effect of aerosols on cloud properties in observational data. 3. 3. Local Effects On Icing Forecasts for Wind Power In Cold Climate

    Author : Erik Janzon; Anna Rutgersson; Johan Arnqvist; Metodija Shapkalijevski; Heiner Körnich; Ebba Dellwik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis will examine the local effects of land cover on icing forecasts. In Paper I, a single column model was used to test the sensitivity of icing forecasts to land cover fraction. Here, the ice accretion forecast was found to be highly sensitive to the wind magnitude response to the surface roughness. READ MORE

  4. 4. Local Effects On Icing Forecasts for Wind Power In Cold Climate

    Author : Erik Janzon; Anna Rutgersson; Metodija Shapkalijevski; Heiner Körnich; Johan Arnqvist; Alfredo Peña; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Abstract : Understanding the risk of atmospheric icing on wind turbines is crucial for the operation of wind farms in cold climate regions. Processes leading to atmospheric icing in the planetary boundary layer are subject to interactions with the land surface--the details of which are largely unknown in current numerical weather prediction models and must be parameterized. 5. 5. Scandium Nitride Thin Films for Thermoelectrics

    Author : Sit Kerdsongpanya; Per Eklund; Björn Alling; Lars Hultman; Gunilla Wingqvist; Heiner Linke; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Thermoelectric devices are one of the promising energy harvesting technologies, since they can convert heat (i.e. a temperature gradient) to electricity. This result leads us to use them to harvest waste heat from heat engines or in power plants to generate usable electricity. READ MORE
