  1. 11. Clinical and Immunological Studies in Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia

    Author : Stina Söderlund; Ulla Olsson-Strömberg; Angelica Loskog; Satu Mustjoki; Dragana Milojkovic; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic myeloid leukaemia; accelerated phase; blast crisis; tyrosine kinase inhibitor; immunology; myeloid-derived suppressor cells; cytokines; proteomics; TKI discontinuation; population-based;

    Abstract : Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is characterised by the constitutively active tyrosine kinase BCR-ABL. Standard treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) in the chronic phase (CP) of CML conveys excellent long-term prognosis but is associated with side effects and costs. READ MORE

  2. 12. Improving prognostication and treatment choices for patients with AML

    Author : Albin Österroos; Sören Lehmann; Marc H G P Raaijmakers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute myeloid leukaemia; Acute promyelocytic leukaemia; Prognostication; Personalised medicine; Risk stratification; Real-world data; Next-generation sequencing; Azacitidine; Venetoclax; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : The treatment landscape of the aggressive haematological malignancy acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) has expanded but the prognosis is still unsatisfactory poor. Here, we aimed at improving prognostication and treatment choices in AML by addressing current clinical obstacles to successful AML treatment. READ MORE

  3. 13. Processing of TNF-receptors to soluble receptor forms in myeloid cells

    Author : Flemming Björnberg; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inflammation cytokine TNF receptor; extracellular fluids; Haematology; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine which binds to two cell surface receptors, TNF-R55 and TNF-R75. The receptors undergo proteolytic cleavage and release a fragment (soluble TNF-receptors or TNF-Binding Protein), TNF-R55-BP and TNF-R75-BP. Soluble TNF-receptors are able to bind and inactivate TNF. 4. 14. Sorting and processing of neutrophil granule proteins

    Author : Elinor Bülow; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; secretion; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; cell-specific retention; chimeric; lysosome-related organelles; secretory pathway; propeptide of MPO; azurophil granules;

    Abstract : The neutrophil granulocytes have a critical role in innate immunity in particular through phagocytosis of microorganisms. Their cytoplasmic granule subsets store digestive enzymes and antibiotic proteins that are released during this event. READ MORE

  5. 15. How can p53 induce differentiation of leukemic cells?

    Author : Kristina Drott; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; p53-differentiation-p21-WT1-leukemia; Hematologi; Haematology; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : The terminal differentiation of leukemic cells is closely connected to their death. The concept of differentiation therapy originates from the idea that forced maturation of leukemic cells could induce cell death without the side-effects that are provoked by ordinary chemotherapy.
