  1. 21. On the Biosynthesis and Processing of Cathepsin G, Leukocyte Elastase, and Azurocidin neutrophil granule members of a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily

    Author : Anders Lindmark; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Haematology; sorting; Activation; propeptide; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : The serine proteases cathepsin G, leukocyte elastase, proteinase 3, and the inactive protease homologue azurocidin, stored in the azurophil granules of neutrophils, belong to a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily with members in mature effector cells of bone marrow origin. Promonocytic U-937 cells were used for studying the biosynthesis of cathepsin G and leukocyte elastase by biosynthetic radiolabelling. READ MORE

  2. 22. Clinical - cytogenetic correlations in malignant hematologic disorders

    Author : Nils Mauritzson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; Haematology; treatment-related.; prognosis; gender; age; morphology; Karyotype; hematologic malignancies; extracellulära vätskor; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Abstract : In the present thesis, clinicogenetic correlations are investigated in a large population-based series of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and chronic myeloid leukemia, for which the karyotypes were analyzed at the same center. The karyotypic pattern, i.e. READ MORE

  3. 23. The role of the leukemia-associated ETO homologue repressors in hematopoiesis

    Author : André Olsson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MTGR1; ETO; MTG16; AML1-ETO; hematopoiesis; leukemia; diffferentiation; extracellular fluids; Haematology; Medicin människa och djur ; extracellulära vätskor; Hematologi; Medicine human and vertebrates ;

    Abstract : The fusion protein AML1-ETO is observed in acute myeloid patients with the chromosomal translocation t(8;21). Cells with this chimeric protein have impaired granulocytic and erythroid differentiation with accumulation of myeloblasts. The transcriptional co-repressor ETO (Eight Twenty One) was identified from the cloning of AML1-ETO. READ MORE

  4. 24. Bactericidal/Permeability-Increasing Protein (BPI) and Proteinase 3: Studies at the Transcriptional Level

    Author : Katrien Pieters; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; azurophil granules; myelopoiesis; BPI; mouse ortholog; proteinase 3; transcriptional regulation; Wegener s Granulomatosis WG ; SNP; Medicine human and vertebrates ; extracellulära vätskor; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; Haematology; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Abstract : In myelopoiesis, neutrophils and monocytes/macrophages are formed from a common myeloid precursor cell in the bone marow. During maturation of neutrophils, cytoplasmic granules are formed in the cells and the content of these granules is critical for the function of neutrophils in the first line of defense against invading microorganisms. 5. 25. Characterisation of the leukaemia-associated ETO homologues

    Author : Sofia Rondin Lindberg; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Haematology; SIN3B; corepressor; MTGR1; MTG16; ETO; AML1-ETO; AML; haematopoiesis; leukaemia; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is commonly associated with balanced chromosomal translocations. Characteristically, these translocations lead to the fusion of two unrelated genes, resulting in the expression of an aberrant fusion protein. t(8;21) is one of the most common translocations found in patients with AML.
