  1. 1. Studying abroad : exploring mobility, expectations and experiences among mobile students

    Author : Per A. Nilsson; Kerstin Westin; Dieter K. Müller; Jan-Henrik Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; student mobility; inbound; outbound; exchange students; Sweden; Social and Economic Geography; kulturgeografi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the experiences and outcomes of temporarily studying abroad, via follow-up studies, aiming to explore international student mobility with a focus on the individual’s perspective. The specific research questions, dealing with the individual students’ expectations and experiences, are addressed in three papers. READ MORE

  2. 2. A declarative approach to debugging for lazy functional languages

    Author : Henrik Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Debugging programs written in lazy functional languages is difficult, and there are currently no realistic, general purpose debugging tools available. The basic problem is that computations in general do not take place in the order one might expect. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electron Transport in Nanowire Quantum Devices

    Author : Henrik Nilsson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Spin-orbit coupling; the Kondo effect; the Zeeman effect; Quantum dots; Nanowire memories; Nanowire transistors; InSb; InAs; Nanowires; Electron transport; Andreev reflections; Nanowire RF-SET; Noise in nanowires;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on electron transport in semiconductor InAs/InP and InSb nanowire quantum devices. However, first the temperature dependence of classical charge transport in InSb nanowire field-effect transistors, FETs, is characterized, using InAs nanowire FETs as a reference. READ MORE

  4. 4. Magnetic resonance imaging for the assessment of liver function

    Author : Henrik Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : DHCE-MRI;

    Abstract : This thesis presents dynamic hepatocyte-specific contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DHCE-MRI) as a new method for total and segmental liver function assessment. The method is based on the hepatocyte-specific properties of Gd- EOB-DTPA, which is actively taken up into functioning hepatocytes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Declarative debugging for lazy functional languages

    Author : Henrik Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Lazy functional languages are declarative and allow the programmer to write programs where operational issues such as the evaluation order are left implicit. It is desirable to maintain a declarative view also during debugging so as to avoid burdening the programmer with operational details, for example concerning the actual evaluation order which tends to be difficult to follow.
