  1. 6. Autoimmune hepatitis in Sweden

    Author : Mårten Werner; Åke Danielsson; Ole Suhr; Per Stål; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autoimmune hepatitis; epidemiology; cirrhosis; prognosis; thiopurines; pregnancy; breast feeding; relapse; hepatocellular cancer; lymphoma; Gastroenterology; Gastroenterologi; medicin; Medicine;

    Abstract : Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) was identified as an entity by the Swedish professor Jan Waldenström in the 1950s. It was then denoted lupoid hepatitis, characterized by liver inflammation and most often affecting young women. READ MORE

  2. 7. Study of Resistance in Hepatitis C Virus Prior to Treatment with Direct Acting Antivirals

    Author : Midori Kjellin; Johan Lennerstrand; Nina Weis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatitis C; HCV; DAA; RAS; resistance-associated substitution; baseline resistance; NS5A; NS3; SVR; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Abstract : The rapid advancement of Hepatitis C (HCV) treatment presents a great challenge to clinicians in optimising therapy for their patients. Genotype (GT), efficacy, side-effects, drug combinations and treatment durations must be tailored to individual patients, considering comorbidities, degree of fibrosis, adherence and antiviral resistance. 3. 8. Immunoglobulins, immunoglobulin subclass-distributions and serologic markers in some renal and systemic disorders

    Author : Gabriel Almroth; Jan Björklander; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunoglobulins; immunoglobulin-subclass distribution; hydralazine; ANCA; anti-:MPO; primary SjOgren s syndrome; hepatitis B vaccination; anti-HBssubclasses; immunoadsorption; plasmapheresis; antibodies; hepatitis C virus; transmission; recombinant immunoblot assay; hepatitis C genotype; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In this study we evaluated pathogenetic factors and possible mediators of renal and systemic disorders where immunologic mechanisms might be of importance.An abberant immunoglobulin and IgG-subclass distribution was detected in 103 patients with primary and secondary glomerulonephritis as well as in 38 patients with the systemic disease primary Sjögren 's syndrome or purpura hypergammaglobulinemica (elevated IgG1 and low IgG2 ). 4. 9. Design and Synthesis of Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Protease Inhibitors : Targeting Different Genotypes and Drug-Resistant Variants

    Author : Anna Karin Belfrage; Anja Sandström; Ulf Ellervik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hepatitis C virus; HCV; NS3 protease inhibitors; structure-activity relationship; 2 1H -pyrazinone; quinazoline; resistance; Pd catalysis; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Since the first approved hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3 protease inhibitors in 2011, numerous direct acting antivirals (DAAs) have reached late stages of clinical trials. Today, several combination therapies, based on different DAAs, with or without the need of pegylated interferon-α injection, are available for chronic HCV infections. READ MORE

  5. 10. Kinetic studies of NS3 and NS5B from Hepatitis C virus : Implications and applications for drug discovery

    Author : Göran Dahl; Helena Danielson; Raffaele De Francesco; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatitis C virus; NS3; NS5B; enzyme kinetics; inhibition; resistance; drug; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The aim of these studies was to increase our understanding of the non-structural proteins 3 and 5B (NS3 and NS5B) from the hepatitis C virus (HCV), and thereby contribute to the development of new and better drugs against HCV.By studying NS3 with substitutions identified to be associated with resistance to NS3 inhibitors in clinical trials (R155Q, A156T and D168V) it was found that not all inhibitors were affected, indicating that cross-resistance can be avoided.
